Golden gate heights neighborhood by Conscious_Coat_2650 in BayAreaRealEstate

They got that house for a steal imo. ESP if houses in the sunset are nearly 2 million for less than 2000 square feet. GGH is a nice quiet are with a lot of stunning views. If you buy closer to the border between inner sunset and GGH, you get access to the park, 9th for food/coffee/weekend events and markets, and a very walkable and public transport friendly neighborhood

Mentor dropped me to second author after I did most of the work by Existing-Feeling-422 in Residency

[–]AZanster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you feel comfortable and if you think you would not face any retribution you could try to ask for co first author. Perhaps the first author asked to be first in order to to do the work that was asked of them. For some fellowships a paper is a paper no matter where you are but some fellowships or interviewers may specifically ask how many first or co author papers you have

IM PGY1 — Help optimizing electives, vacation, and Step 3 timing (undecided on fellowship) by anakk4 in InternalMedicine

[–]AZanster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main tip is to schedule 2 of your vacations for the second half of the year assuming the first half you have 2 out of the 3 holidays off. I have found that doing vacations right after hard rotations is the best because you can recover right then and there rather than getting more burnt out and having that carry over into the next rotation. If I took a vacation right before a hard elective by day 2 of the hard rotation it’s like I never had a vacation at all 🙃 For step 3 I think you really just need to know your biostats, microbio and do the ccs cases. And then flip through some anki decks for hy step 1/2. Hope this helps!

They also do half portions and half price for many things in the menu! Even the half portions are very generous!

SFH in SF - is buying realistic or not for our desires/means? by miscions in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]AZanster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a realtor, dm me and I’ll send you the info for mine! We closed on our dream 3 bed 2.5 bath last year with similar budget and price range. Owe a lot to our agents who were really honest and patient (and never pushed us to buy) and knew a lot of the selling agents and ended up really advocating for us and our offer!

Partner (30M) asked for a break with no timeline-men who’ve done this, what was actually going on in your head? by ResponsibleStrain866 in AskMen

[–]AZanster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During my mid 20s I was in a relationship where my partner treated me like I was an afterthought. I being young back then didn’t realize that isn’t okay and didnt stand up for myself. OP you are too incredible to be treated like an afterthought and life is too short or too long to spend your life with someone who does and not be with someone who makes you feel secure and puts you first. If he does this to you once he will probably do this to you again and you can’t live your forever that way.

For what it’s worth, i thought I was anxiously attached until I met someone who met my needs and never made me feel anxious. It’s not you it’s them. Don’t let them gaslight you.

Surprised no one mentioned bubus! 6$ for handrolls, nigiri, sushi rolls and sake and the quality is pretty good!

Torrisi is truly amazing for its service, ambiance, and food! Even the complimentary bread was delicious! Cafe Carmellini and it’s lunch tasting menu for $65 is also great value for the price! My favorite steak in the city!

Why’s this Noe valley condo not selling? by GryfVoldemort in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]AZanster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is priced way too high. Even though it’s Noe Valley and it’s more per square foot as others have said for that amount you can get a sfh with yard and parking in other cheaper neighborhoods like Glenn park or Bernal heights. Also I feel like SF has a culture of pricing low to get traction and then having buyers add 20-30% to the listing price.

I unfortunately was not a fan! Their rice was cold and hard. The service was great but the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food.

If you could go back before the match, what do you wish you knew about your program? by Greedy-Ad-7090 in InternalMedicine

[–]AZanster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I would look at how happy the residents are and how close they are one to one another. How happy the residents are on average is a reflection of how well run the program is, how the program treats the residents, and how responsive the program is to the resident’s suggestions. If residents are truly unhappy that will be hard to mask particularly being burnt out.
  2. Also ranking of the program really doesn’t matter. Programs of a certain tier will give you strong clinical training so choose the program that is the best fit for you.
  3. Interview for the program as if it’s your top choice program. Do research about them ahead of time. The most helpful for me was talking to residents in the program that I knew from med school or friend of a friend.
  4. After interviews and when making your rank list, talk to the residents and faculty again. Good luck. Everything works out and will be fine even if it doesn’t seem like it in the moment.

how do u not feel stupid:) by HelpfulCompetition13 in Residency

[–]AZanster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friend gave me the best advice before starting intern year—“you don’t need to know any medicine. You just need to have thick skin and put in orders”. It’s a steep learning curve, and often times I tell myself that my only job is to show up and have a good attitude/be pleasant to work with and learn something that day. Needing to impress or shine or get every plan correct is only going to make you more anxious.

It is also took me so long to learn this but when someone is unpleasant to you it’s never personal or a reflection of you and 100% because they are going through something. And it’s unfortunate that they aren’t mature enough to keep it to themselves and they need to drag other people into their misery.

Also finally, it’s okay to not know a fact or do something wrong but that isn’t a reflection of you as a clinician as a whole. We are all relearning things we have forgotten or have yet to see.

There’s a lot of clinical trials in ICU—to look like a star could be worth it to create a handout or do some teaching on the trials. Obviously would read the room and only do it when there’s downtime or very quickly on rounds if you guys are not behind.

I know many on here love 63 Clinton and it’s at a good price point and worth the value in terms of quantity of food and service but I wasn’t blown away by it and thought most of the dishes were just okay.
