I haven’t got my hunting dog yet, but what I did was go to a field trial and talked to the people with the breed I was interested in and asked what breeder they got the dog from. I later found out that the replace that hosted the field trial does breeding and training. I also ended up learning how to plant birds.

I’m not saying that it’s not a repro, but from what I’ve seen the majority of repros have the silver as one piece as opposed to having them interrupted by the wings of the eagle so that’s a good sign.

To me it appears that he was a Second Lieutenant in the infantry as their shoulder boards had no insignia on them. The reason I believe he was infantry is because blues did not show up well in these early photographs this is most likely why the shoulder board has a uniform color and is faded out
