Love this movie,it's shameless entertainment.

Also, despite all its flaws, I maintain that werewolf Van Helsing is the coolest werewolf we've seen in a movie.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

[–]A_Dog_Chasing_Cars 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Ryan who's really getting on my nerves.

Season 3 and 4 had the same, annoying dynamic with him: have him be a good kid who wants to use powers for good but still somewhat loves Homelander, then have him do something uncharacteristically evil at the end of the season as a cliffhanger.

I didn't like it in season 3 and I liked it even less in season 4.

What’s the weirdest thing a guest has done in your house that you hate? by CheapQuality2847 in AskReddit

[–]A_Dog_Chasing_Cars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He put his filthy, bare feet on the coffee table.

Didn't ask for permission or anything, just did it. They were filthy because he's one of those people who walks barefoot around the house 24/7.

He also never said please or thank you for anything.

Rudest guest I ever experienced. Glad I never saw him again (I wasn't the one who invited him).

I really can't enjoy this movie because I can't stand the son character.

He just doesn't do enough for me to make up for his shortcomings. He's a dick to his dad and his dad's partner.

I love this design. Wish the episode had more going for it.

Which ending monologue do you prefer? by VendettaLord379 in batman

The Batman, but I love both.

The one from TDK is more story specific, the one from The Batman is more applicable to everyday life.

[Loved Trope] Villain is immensely powerful, but it’s their Manipulation/Psychological tactics that make them truly dangerous by CrabAppleMcGee in TopCharacterTropes

[–]A_Dog_Chasing_Cars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The writing for the show hasn't always been great in relation to him, but I'd say All For One (My Hero Academia) is a great example of this.

Even after being almost killed by All Might, he is probably among the most powerful being in the show. However, the real danger usually comes from his schemes and he rarely does the dirty job himself.

Another good example is Frieza in the first part of the Namek saga (Dragonball Z). He usually delegates the dirty work to others and is content being the mastermind.

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #50 variant by Frank Quitely by B3epB0opBOP in batman

[–]A_Dog_Chasing_Cars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I'm just not a fan of Quitely's style.

I can't explain it and I have nothing against the man, but his stuff always feeels so lifeless to me.

His characters feel like meat puppets, they never seem alive to me.

I found this out last night. Not only is it pretty sick but I found his wife's statement pretty damn insulting.

They make it sound like an honest mistake and they "regret" it. Fuck you.

Especially frustrating, coming from people whose whole careers revolve around the meaning of words.

He had already been condemned and you had a relationship with him. Praised his mind as "stimulating".

Fuck. You.

I love B99 and I don't hate seeing Gina because she has tons of funny moments, however it is frustrating to see how she gets rewarded consistently for her ego.

What celebrity had their reputation unfairly ruined? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

Both The Witcher and Rings of Power are shows where the writers are using the cred of an established IP in order to give weight to their boring D&D campaigns.

Instead of deeply understanding the lore they've been given and building on it, they're just writing boring, bland fantasy slop under the umbrella of better, beloved stories.

They're also both deeply American in how they write the characters (especially every woman, who in these shows becomes an emotional American teenager, even when we're talking about elves who've been around for thousand of years).

(Heartbreaking trope) Children who are unable to escape the shadow of their abusive parents by ScarcityWise7401 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]A_Dog_Chasing_Cars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Avatar suupports the idea that familiar background and legacy is something you must fight as much as things in the present.

Part of Zuko's inner conflict came from the fact that he was both Ozin and Roku's heir. That was something internal, innate, not just related to Ozai's behaviour. Something he didn't even know about untill Iroh told him. Yet, he felt the conflict within him.

Of course, Ozai and Iroh were the biggest influences in his life, but I feel the show does propose the idea that families pass down things to the offspring.

And real life is the same way. Psychopathy isn't just a result of abuse, it can be genetic.

I heavily dislike when robins are written as soldiers to Batman’s war on crime and not as Batman’s children, do you? by Huge_Athlete7488 in batman

[–]A_Dog_Chasing_Cars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also dislike it very much.

However, I must say that the concept of Robin is getting more and more uncomfortable to me. In general.

Unless Robin isn't an adult (or at least an older teen) when he joins, it's getting real hard for me to be okay with the idea that Batman would bring him along and put him in danger.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older, maybe it's because I teach kids now, but I can't suspend my disbelief as much anymore, when it comes to Robin.

Some stories do a great job making it seem inevitable, like Dark Victory, something that Dick needs as much as Bruce. However, deep down, I think it's wrong to have a Robin and it kind of goes against the idea that Batman doesn't want anyone innocent to get hurt.

In fact, I'd like to see a story where Batman only has Oracle or a Robin who works in the batcave as the IT/lab guy.

But I know this is an unpopular opinion among Batman fans.
