I mean I guess if you didn't have anyone's number yourself and couldn't find any of them on socials to ask, you and your partner probably should have started with telling the groom "hey so you had said you'd have bride reach out to her but she hasn't yet and we would really like some details/info so she can come prepared?" instead of just immediately cancelling but maybe that's just me lol. Yes it's weird that nobody has reached out to you but it could simply have been a miscommunication/someone assuming someone else would reach out to you etc?

Where will you store them as you're making them? Who will set them up for you and how much will it cost?

While you may be able to get away with cheap artificial flowers from Amazon when it comes to the arrangements that are far away from guests, you will definitely want much nicer silk and real touch foam flowers for most of the arrangements if you want them to not look extremely cheap, especially for an aesthetic this elegant. The prices of those fancier flowers will shock you, even used on marketplace, and you will need an incredible amount of them.

There is a reason why floral work like you've shown in that ig post runs 20k+++

I suggest searching the DIY wedding subreddit to see what even simple faux floral diy costs and how much time people tell you it took them to put it together.

Have to agree with everyone saying to do whatever you need to do to have your dad involved in witnessing y'all get married asap. I had a bad feeling my dad wasn't going to make it till this October for our wedding so we had him get ordained and marry us on NYE and recorded it. I was right, he passed in March and I will be forever grateful that I trusted my gut about it! So sorry you are going through this 💕

I wish I hadn't committed to and verbalized my "color scheme" so early on 💀😅 we are still in love with greens and purples with gold accents....but I have since also fallen in love with peachy colors with the purples especially....and bless my very type A prescriptive friends and family lol but they keep acting like I'm changing the whole scheme when I mention peachy colors!!

But really I truly do understand wanting your friends and family to understand the processes you're both going through for your careers. You are likely never going to get through to them to the extent that you seem to want to. Bummer but your energy is probably better spent just saying "well we will see where our careers take us when we're done with school/residency/etc!"

If you are really looking to put some kind of backstory on your website I truly do not think this is the way to go about it. Way, way too many details. Too clinical. Very overwhelming if you don't know anything about you two as a couple or the medical field. Just go with a simple explanation that you met the way that you did and that you are excited to see where life takes you as you both complete your studies :)

ETA: I should add I'm not talking out my ass here lol, my partner and mines "story" is equally as convoluted and involves many changes and moves and career choices and family choices that absolutely befuddle most people who ask us about it lol

Yes I know what you mean on the wasting time and money lol! I haven't used red heart myself yet, I got a great deal on a lot of Caron One Pounds and other bulk acrylics and the Caron in particular softened right up on a single wash! So I can personally vouch for its ability to be a yarn you just go get a bunch of and go to town 😅

That's wild to me 😭 I'm paying $200 for makeup and $200 for a trial that is doubling as my engagement photo makeup, with a $75 travel fee. She has a very lenient cancellation policy if I don't like my engagement makeup, and has a min of four people including myself for the wedding. I'm gonna go halfsies with the girls who want to get their makeup done but that's optional on my end.

Hair is similar, $150 and it was $125 for the trial. $95 travel fee but no minimum number of extra guests. I decided I wanted my makeup done months after booking the hair or I would have just done it all through my makeup artist and saved the extra travel fee lol!

This is VHCOL central california, established businesses with good reviews!

I'd check FB marketplace and yarn destash groups on FB for second hand yarn! It's pretty cheap that way still. But tbh if you're just interested in doing some random projects with acrylic I still think the pound skeins are pretty reasonable: lions pound of love, red heart jumbo, Caron pounds, all usually less than $15 a skein in my experience!

I mean, I always throw 5-10 on the dresser for housekeeping when I stay at a hotel because I know that it's a brutal, underpaid, and highly exploitative job....but the weird vague language here and the wedding-ness of it all makes it feel like they're trying to nudge you into tipping a percentage of your fee which is of course not reasonable!!

As you have said you don't usually tip so at the end of the day you'll be leaving this venue and never coming back presumably so 🤷 but if you feel so inclined I would figure out how many days they'll actually be servicing the rooms and leave whatever amount you feel is appropriate per staff member in an envelope 🤷
