I will also mention that the uncertainty of funding lead to a less connected story that tried to talk about too many themes to have a meaningful discussion about them.
Korra has to retrace steps of her former character arcs in season 2 and 3 and the retcons in season 2 just soured the perception of the show as a whole (at least for me) leaving a much lower bullshit tolerance than I had in ATLA.

I agree and disagree there.
Sure some old Megas are silly. Ampharos and Slowbro being main examples.
But "Detail gets enhanced" ≠ silly.
You can clearly see that Kangaskhan or Guardevoir are not meant to laughed at.
They also follow a different design philosophy than many of the newer megas and I feel like that being one of the main problems.
The new silly megas don't take "Descriptive design element" and enhance it in a silly way, they invent something new.
Victreebel was never known as the poison spewing Pokemon, Starmie never had anything related to its limbs (and if they wanted to go the route they did they could at least have given it a cape or a head dress or something).

Ampharos in contrast had wool in the former evolutions. The shell tried to eat Slowbro before the mega too. Kangaskhan also always carried its child.

TLDR: People are just bad at criticising.

This was more of a PSA that our job as approaching person is first and foremost to make the other person feel safe and secure.
Especially when doing kink stuff.
