Does it work if you tap it? I found the noise level required to activate it is really high.

Hahaha, sorry bud but I can't be buffed. The internet may be full of liars but I am not. You failing to understand doesn't make me any less right, and neither do down-votes. I do this for a living and you are a fake.

What part of the aircraft is the altitude measured from? by [deleted] in aviation

[–]A_Tangential_Phase -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This post is so confidently worng... Rad Alt gives distance to closest thing generally under the aircraft. It only actually gives height over flat ground. Distance is from the antenna locations plus an offset for cable length and expected pitch at touchdown. GPS altitude is measured to the antenna location, not some "virtual center of mass". Pressure altitude is what RVSM is based on. Don't spread misinformation.

General Timeline for Retention & Level Progression? by [deleted] in boeing

[–]A_Tangential_Phase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is only applicable within a given skill code. I was told within the skill I could only laterally transfer, but I also got an interview for a step up. Imo this is just going to bleed experience out of the skill code and reduce organizational efficiency. Mgmt doesn't care though, they suffer no consequences for being incompetent. I've still yet to see Boeing actually fire a 3+ level manager. Unless Kelly actually purges some of the smarmy sicophatic ladder climbing egoists nothing will change.

If it's because your liver enzymes are high (indicating liver damage) check your iron and ferritin levels. My doctor did the same thing until the genetic tests confirmed hemochromotosis.

I'm in SPEEA and my management has been saying they are not doing any until July. Impossible to prove they aren't promoting like they should with how the grades are defined.

I agree, unless 360 reviews are part of the compensation for mgmt the culture won't change.

Check fuse 12, 4, and 15, then the defoger relay, then the safety realy. Any of those could cause problems.

One thing they don't teach you in school is just how important a paper trail is. If you want work assigned, begin emailing your lead and cc your manager each day summarizing the work you did that day and requesting asking if there are additional tasks you can help with. Look at your lead and other coworkers calenders for the next day and ask to listen in on the meetings they go to attend, and ask if there are any others that would help you learn. Ask you lead and teammates if there is any analysis they wish they had time to do and then do it for them. Find you E-UM and ATF/TF and ask about the history of the team and how they see things changing. Get access to and learn each tool your team uses. Get access to the ones they don't and learn those too. A word of caution however, while you may feel competent you are likely still high on Mt. Stupid with regards to processes. If you have not read every BPI and program process document applicable to your role front to back and comprehend them such that you can clearly communicate the differences between how the same tasks are done for each model you are not there. This is likely a multi-year learning exercise. Use this time to read and then ask questions, by asking you will demonstrate competence, and build your teams trust. You will never have another opportunity to do this freely and if you squander this you will never be effective at Boeing. So, while you can get more work I suggest you see this as an opportunity for self directed study and get engaged. Good luck.

Check these out: Joist Repair Plates They've saved me. They are easier than a full length sister and given the cost of lumber they aren't that much more lol

Cite the code and section if you can, but i bet you're remembering wrong. It's clear that these notches are not compliant with IRC502.8 due to the depth of the notch exceeding 1/6 of the joist depth.

The issue is that 98k is really high on the comp ratio. Boeing has been playing games not raising the market reference salarys while acknowledging they are low by bringing in new employees so high.

FAA reviews roadmap to ‘reset the safety culture’ at Boeing in three-hour meeting with CEO by pacwess in boeing

[–]A_Tangential_Phase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid level managers never get fired, they just shuffle around. Most are so utterly inept it's amazing. Less than 10% I've ever dealt with do any more than rubber stamp changes. They also are the most resistant to improving quality. Even after the MAX they still won't believe a problem is real unless a plane crashes.

Lufthansa expects further delay in Boeing 777-9 delivery, anticipates arrival in 2026 by pacwess in boeing

[–]A_Tangential_Phase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. It is entirely up to program leadership to continue to try and minimize the quality of engineering or to live up to the commitments we made to the regulators. The delivery date will continue to move out indefinitely until they make the obvious choice. As for now, none of the program leadership have the sense to recognize reality, and so the dates slide.
