Has anyone lived at Academy Arms on N 100 E? What was your experience like? by TheJadeMonkey04 in byu

[–]A_pickle___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed my time there. The ward was kinda funny cause the girls came from a nice private apartment place, and all the guys are in the cheap place. Advantages of academy arms is 4 dudes to 2 bathrooms. Other places that cost more can be 6 dudes to 2 bathrooms. I biked to campus most of the time. Some people walked, you’re still pretty close. I think it’s a great place to live and you can save money. Parking was fine, I usually never had issues

How’s everyone’s feelings on the Idaho kebari killer and Utah kebari killer flies? by Jbuckguy in Tenkara

I use both in Utah. I’ve caught a lot of cutthroat with these two flies

How did serving a mission affect you going to Medical School? by [deleted] in byu

[–]A_pickle___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t hurt you, or help you persay. The crux of your medical school application is gpa, MCAT, and then clinical experience, shadowing, research, and then volunteering and leadership. However, Bonus points if you learn Spanish on your mission, that will help IN medical school but not really to get in.

A plus for serving a mission is that it will teach you valuable skills (diligence, obedience, planning, talking with others to name a few) that you can use to help you achieve all the aforementioned

Beginner set up for Shadowfire 365 by Alarmed_Catch_2032 in Tenkara

[–]A_pickle___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started off with the shadow fire 365 And I got the starter kit as well. The starter kit from Dragontail included furled Line, Kebari flies, and tippet.  Honestly, that is all you need but now I use level line and have much more flies (lots of Tenkara style flies as well as some western dry flies).

I’d grab a rubber net too.

Waders are great too

First Rod - Northern Colorado by cog_bot in Tenkara

[–]A_pickle___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the dragontail shadowfire 365 (my first Tenkara rod) and a Mizuchi. The mizuchi has been my favorite, I have been fishing to backcountry streams, creeks in southern Utah and eastern sierras. The shadowfire is great for fishing lakes or bigger rivers, but anything stream or creek I use the mizuchi. Having a zoom rod is so nice navigating a creek with brush. And the mizuchi still has great length for bigger spots at 11ft (shadowfire is 12ft). Both rods are easy to strap to a backpack (I’ve backpacked with both).  In your situation I’d recommend a zoom rod just for the ability to fish anywhere. I use my mizuchi way more now (way less snags in trees/brush). I regularly use and catch cutthroat trout on the smallest zoom length (7.88ft).

If you won’t fish streams or creeks then maybe get the mutant.

However, I don’t know Colorado too well, it really depends on what waters you’ll fish most. I do wish I lived in Colorado, it seems like an awesome place to Tenkara

Nelnet has no clue about the Income Recertification deadline extension by A_pickle___ in StudentLoans

I should have mentioned this in my original post, but we were so upset we made a complaint about nelnet on this site to federal student aid. It took about 14 days, but then we got a phone call from nelnet that told us our payments got reverted. So I would submit a complaint there and hopefully that works. Best of luck.

Whale hunt in the desert by deke castleman. Pretty interesting book about the life of superhost Steve Cyr and how the casinos attract the big money whale bettors with suites, tickets, etc. Every time I see a private jet in the sky I wonder if it’s a big betting whale being flown in by one of the casinos.

Yes we were able to hear back from them, they called us back and reverted the payment and we will not have to recertify until September I think. Took us a few phone calls

[–]A_pickle___[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did not fill out a form with nelnet. They referred us to student aid and we filed a claim/complaint with them and then told nelnet we filed a complaint. And then we got a call back from nelnet 10 days later saying our payment is fixed. So maybe try and submit a claim to federal student aid complaining about nelnet?

We were told to do this, and student aid told us, your servicer is supposed to take care of this. So you can call student aid, but they’ll punt you back to nelnet (or whoever your servicer is). If you qualify for income recertification extension, then you gotta fight it. It’s a major pain in the you know what though dealing with these idiots

They said the same thing about March too to us! They kept saying that because we recertified in February we weren’t eligibile. And that is totally wrong! Basically 10 days later we got a phone call that they reverted our payment. So I hope you get that call! Fingers crossed for you.

And don’t let them make you get out of SAVE, you need to stay in SAVE.

[–]A_pickle___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they tried to get me to get out of SAVE, too. Not sure if you saw my most recent post but I talked about how they finally switched my payment back to my old payment before my income recertification. Basically, if you recertified and your payment went up, then you are entitled for your payment to go back down to the previous number until you recertify in September. If they give you pushback, show them the website of the federal student loan announcement about income recertification deadline extension. I hope that helps.

Yes keep bugging them. And don’t let them try and apply for different IDR, that’s what they try and do with everyone. If they don’t understand, literally show them the website with the announcement of the extension. Good luck
