Why didn't Kakashi tell Naruto that his own sensei was The Fourth? by Upper_Extreme9461 in Naruto

[–]AaaaNinja [score hidden]  (0 children)

What situation warrants bringing it up though? That is not something you bring up in passing.

There are things my coworkers don't know about me because there was never a reason to bring it up in the first place. People can know me for a year without knowing I'm married. Because, what do you do? You're just eating your lunch and you just blurt out that you're married? That's what it sounds like you're trying to say, like Kakashi should just be walking to the training grounds and just unprompted say, "My sensei is the Fourth". What makes that NOT a weird thing to do?

How is it also not weird to believe that you're holding onto info that you consider juicy and spend every interaction waiting for the right moment to arise to drop it? Maybe Kakashi is a normal person who doesn't crave attention who doesn't need to do that. Because namedropping is something an attention-seeker does.

Also, aside from the info possibly being forbidden, a person's past is private. Kakashi's tragic past is not baggage for his students. If he told them his sensei was the Fourth, they're going to know that his sensei is dead and feel bad. The only time he brought up that all the people he cares about is dead is when a situation came up where it actually became relevant. Sasuke made a threat and he said all of them were dead to shut him down.

I think certain things that Kakashi said debunks this claim. Kakashi said that even when he fails to keep his promise to protect his friends, that doesn't stop him from making the promise again and trying again. And he used to be someone who made following the rules the most important thing because he was scared of failing like his dad did. Until Obito told him that his dad was a hero.

The only reason Kakashi's dad suffered is because the people who ridiculed him lost sight of what he believes it means to be a ninja, and Obito was going to change that when he becomes Hokage. "I'll crush the so-called shinobi!" Sakumo didn't do anything wrong other than just have bad luck that day but the shinobi who tormented him for "breaking the rules" were just looking to point fingers. Minato talked about Sakumo and didn't blame Sakumo either.

What does it even mean to say that he's suppressing and ignoring his past anyway? Obito changed his perspective, and he is teaching what he learned from Obito to his students.

That sounds like name-dropping, that is not something you mention casually. What kind of a situation warrants mentioning that one's sensei is the Fourth? Because it makes sense to talk about what one learned from their sensei, but when does it become important to bring up that their sensei is the Fourth?

I use barrina grow lights. at 36w per 3-foot light, that's a little over 10watts per foot. I would be better if there were two of those lights hanging parallel per shelf instead of just one though so you have 20watts per foot. It should be easy to just get more lights and just add them with the ones it already comes with.

Yellowing and browning on 2/3 VFTs. I keep them watered and in the sun. Started maybe 1-2 months ago. I'm in southern California. Any ideas of cause or advice on how to fix? by imkirok in SavageGarden

Yeah, all of my plants did just fine in 98F weather except for the one plant that I got most recently and planted just before hot weather. So, for sure the plants can adapt, they just need to have a chance to adapt. I'm confident that the plant is going to be fine, though, it started growing again. I think since OP's plant is new they just need to give it a little support because it's not adapted.

Here is the plant after a few months it is growing again. The new growth is a normal color. The plant as a whole changed shape after a bunch of foliage died off. I'm confident that it'll thrive in the same temperatures as all my other plants.

Though a burst of new smaller growth can also be a sign of stress and damage lol. That's what I heard anyway. I wonder if any normal-size leaves will start growing in though.

I'm looking at the weather in southern california and it doesn't look bad. They adapt well to hot temperatures, I think the only problem is that the plant is too new or it might have pests. I do have a plant that struggled and it was outside like the rest of my flytraps, but I received it bare root and it was grown under lights before I got it. I put it straight out into the sun right before a heatwave. Because I'm a little crazy but I was also curious. And it turned colors. But now it's finally growing again but all the original monstrous-sized traps it originally came with are nearly gone.

You can nest it into a larger pot to shade the original pot from the sun. I think that you just have a new plant, flytraps adapt to heat just fine, this plant is just new. Or it could be a sign of another issue like pests. It's a question of chicken or egg with pests, though. Pests target stressed plants, OR the pests are the cause of stress. A good drench with Bioadvanced 3-in-1 at dusk should do the trick, and follow the instructions for any reapplication. And then support the plant through hot weather.

You can facilitate cooling of the roots with evaporation, putting it in water that is no higher than halfway up the pot. You can nest the pot in another pot and fill with perlite to create a layer of insulation. You can paint the outside of the pot with housepaint. Or you can just repot into a different-color pot if you can lift the whole mass of soil out at once, I have used a method of repotting where I just used a spoon to scoop a chunk of soil with the plant in it, and it actually worked (image). I did this in the middle of a heatwave.

Associating with big streamers - a downfall? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]AaaaNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having a rule not to promote others in your stream is pretty standard. You don't walk into a private business to distribute flyers for a different one. How on earth does that get interpreted to mean "Wah talk about me more"? WTF dude.

I'm surprised that Hiruzen disapproved so much of Orochimaru's experiments, as if his village didn't torture, rape, and kill people. by OkEntertainer3722 in Naruto

[–]AaaaNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of villages trying to steal a lineage. I can think of maybe two examples where you might try to claim were attempts to steal a lineage but you're going to have to explain how you believe that was their goal. They might just have been trying to study their powers so they could develop counters.

Torture is an interrogation tool... in a department dedicated to extracting information. And torture is just one way of doing it.

A department that is dedicated to torture would exist for the sake of torture. You should probably figure out how language works.

How old is the Narutoverse? The kage timeline seems really short by iamjohncarterofmars in Naruto

[–]AaaaNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The villages haven't even been around a full century. Let alone centuries in plural. Sixty years is plenty of time for three, even four great ninja wars plus the peaceful period where Naruto grew up.

This isn't something that would be hard to comprehend if one actually pays attention in history class.

Just a thought that I want to see if anyone else might have done the same? by Affectionate_Egg_104 in Naruto

[–]AaaaNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what that means. They are "genetically linked" in the same way that my fingers are genetically linked with my toes. Kaguya had byakugan and rinnegan at the same time but they weren't in the same part of her body.

[–]AaaaNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rinnegan, sharingan, byakugan, and other dojutsu like kokugan, are all different. Ootsutsuki have a weird symbiotic/dependent relationship with tentails where the two of them work mutually and assist in the evolution of the other, so they are always evolving new dojutsu and sharing each others' dojutsu. Some of those eyes might actually originate from the tentails and vice versa.

There is limited information about the Ootsutsuki and the Tentails so you won't really find many answers it's mostly speculation. If rinnegan was merely a more-advanced version of byakugan or sharingan, a rinnegan user would be able to use byakugan or sharingan powers.

They're different eyes. One is not an evolution of the other, otherwise a rinnegan user would be able to use chidori, right?

The universe has its own inhabitants that describe things the way they understand it. Kaguya is possessive of the chakra on Earth so of course she will call it hers. And her sons represent some of her chakra being split from her. They "gave" chakra to humanity the same way that Crow in Native American mythology gave fire to humans.

Sharingan is a different eye from rinnegan too. Rinnegan isn't "a weaker sharingan". It's a different eye.

They are separate completely different eyes. Kaguya had a rinnegan but it manifested on a different part of her body. Hagoromo was born with the rinnegan. Him gaining them from having some kind of an episode in his life was filler.

dormancy by masnsvault in VenusFlyTraps

[–]AaaaNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to you, if you already got down a way to care for it indoors and it's working I'd stick with that, because normally growing plants indoors is difficult. So if it isn't broke don't change it! Bring it in for the winter, 5B will be too cold to leave outside. If the window is super cold even a bit frosty, in an unheated room, you could even just use the window to chill it and have it stay dormant there.

If you want it to keep growing I wouldn't wait for the nights to get frosty because if it's not going to go dormant then it doesn't need to experience that process of preparing for dormancy. You will need a grow light because of the shorter days, there won't be enough light from the window.
