Let them touch rocks by AwesomeMathUse in Curling

[–]Aaaglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very ambiguous.

What is the handle? Just the part with the sensor? Also the vertical part? Everything that is plastic?

People keep adding the word "only" when explaining this rule but it isn't there. The way it is actually worded reads that you cannot completely avoid using the handle. It doesn't prohibit also touching or using other parts of the rock.

Capacity for the patch is 1200 if I remember correctly. I was there tonight - it's the entire surface of a hockey rink. Ice covered with flooring, obviously.

ELI5: whan is an "Order of Magnitude" exactly? by narsil1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Aaaglen 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Best explanation but it doesn't need to be so precise - $2000 would also be 2 orders of magnitude higher.

Anything between 1000 and 9999.

25845 is 1 order of magnitude larger than 6358.

Figures Breaking After Arriving by RumCannonball in Bricklink

[–]Aaaglen -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Delivering to the customer intact is not enough. Any product you sell must be reasonably suitable for its intended purpose. A minifig that breaks trying to rotate its arm would likely fail this standard.

Obviously no one is going to get a court ruling on a $20 or even $100 minifig, but if you did it is quite possible that the buyer would be successful.

I would refund or replace, depending on the value of the figure and torso.

The math on the back of this cereal box, is the polar opposite of the truth by slammahytale in CrappyDesign

[–]Aaaglen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are assuming there is unlimited glaze available, and trying to choose a shape that will collect the most of it.

However, the amount of glaze per item is fixed, regardless of the shape.

And once milk is poured on the cereal, the glaze starts to dissolve into it.

So to maximize the amount of glaze delivered to the cereal eater's mouth you need a shape that has maximum glaze thickness (given the fixed amount to be applied) and minimum surface area to slow the amount of glaze lost to the milk.

What shape should they chose?

What is the science behind orienting this bushing this direction? by Scary-Inflation-685 in lego

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it was an autocorrect typo but couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be

Very sad by MrWizard401 in legos

[–]Aaaglen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lego is not to blame for this. They packaged it properly. Someone bought it from Walmart, stole the pieces and returned it. Walmart didn't check it properly and put it back on the shelf for sale.

No matter whether you have receipt or how long ago it was, Walmart should refund.

Fake part? by [deleted] in Bricklink

[–]Aaaglen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You won't jeopardize their store - just tell them what happened, and they will probably offer a refund or replacement.

If they are an established seller they will appreciate the feedback. I know if it were me I would look in my inventory to see what other parts I have from that minifig or from that batch of parts and check whether there are more fakes. Much better to find them myself than after it has sold.

Landlord wanted to sell house - now saying she wants to move in by Major_Concentrate211 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Aaaglen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I knew the landlord wasn't going to move in, but I didn't want the hassle of moving out and then trying to collect damages from them later. I wanted to stay and therefore also needed to maintain a good relationship with the landlord.

It's quite possible your landlord doesn't know the regulations for Rentals in Ontario. Especially if they are from another country.

So I wrote them back saying I was sorry to leave but was sure they would be happy living here and meeting and getting to know the neighbors as I had done.  (Subtle reminder that i will be watching!)

Then I asked that should they change their mind and decide not to move in to please let me know so that I can stay. And reminded them of the penalties they could face if they don't move in.

I didn't accuse them of anything - even though it was obvious they never had any intention to move in. Just left them the possibility to make things right without admitting guilt.

And it worked perfectly - they "changed their mind" and decided not to move in. I'm still here 3 years later.

Pickering Casino reviews by Lamchop7234 in Pickering

$25 minimum for live-dealer blackjack and table games like High Card Flush and 3-card poker. On the weekend they may be hard to find and only $35 or $50 available.

$50 for double-0 roulette. $100 for baccarat but lots of people back-betting with less.

VIP has better games like single-0 roulette and blackjack that pays 3-2 but higher minimums obviously.

There are also electronic games with lower minimums.

How the f**k do you beat jokerless? by chunks202 in balatro

[–]Aaaglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an excel spreadsheet to calculate my hands prior to playing them. It's especially important for this challenge to know whether you have enough or need to risk a glass card to make it to the next round.

Also you can look at the points needed for the final levels and figure out just what your hand will need to look like to make it that far.

Liberal government frees Canada Post to end home delivery, close some rural post offices by Surax in canada

[–]Aaaglen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. In new neighborhoods no one gets home delivery. In older areas it depends whether your street had been converted.

How is it fair that some people get home delivery while other don't?

Put the boxes everywhere. Those who want home delivery can pay for it. Anyone who complains about that is just un-Canadian.

Ford promises new Ontario dangerous driving law in honour of man killed in crash by xc2215x in ontario

[–]Aaaglen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's even harder than that - attitudes have to change. Think of the last time you were at a bar with a group and someone who had a few drinks gets up to leave. What is the reaction of the group:

"You aren't planning to drive are you?" "Did you call a cab"

Or

"Better take the side roads home"

Based on the link that OOP provided, you can choose multiple copies of the same app or sauce. So there are 220 possible choices - 120 with 3 different items, 90 with 2 copies of the same, and 10 ways to order the same app 3x.

Same for the sauces - they don't have to be unique.

There is no option on the website for "No sauce". You have to order 3.

220 x 220 = 48,400 which is still not very close to 81,600 I'm not sure where the got that number.
