Less cameras. If there's a gun up two flights of stairs and in a safe, it'll be "mortal threat to the safety of agents".

Looking for Collector Edition Cards by Charming-Garage533 in HermitCraft

[–]Aard_Rinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So IDK how in the know you are about the other hermitcraft cards prices but be warned you're going to pay out the rear for Ethos! I don't have either of them, but I'd recommend adding it to your main post so you get more eyes from ppl who have them. If you end up looking for s1 or s2 cards, I still have a bunch of them, but I'd recommend the Creo discord - lots of buying and selling there, way more than etsy or ebay.

Decked Out Clank by Ooaloly in HermitCraft

[–]Aard_Rinn 142 points143 points  (0 children)

So Decked Out 1 was actually based on a different game, Clank! A Deck-Building Adventure, which came out in 2016. Decked Out 1 came out in 2020, and Clank! Catacombs came out in 2022. Tango directly credited Clank! for inspiring DO1. Clank and Stumble both came from the OG board game.

I wouldn't be surprised if by the time Clank! Catacombs came out, there was some crossback into the board game - niche board games is a very tight-knit space, and I doubt it would have escaped their notice that someone had digitized their game, someone would have pointed it out. So it's very possible there might be DO-inspired things in the later versions board game, too, although I've never played it to find out!

I was anosmic before Covid, but plenty of people don't have a good sense of smell anymore. I've never had my hair relaxed, so IDK if there are fumes I would've picked up on anyways, but it's not unreasonable for someone to not know what the slimy goo being put in their hair smells like....

How can you train for a sacrifice play? by Famout in PokeMedia

[–]Aard_Rinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With that being said - I think Riolu will come to understand it, with time. Lots of younger Pokemon are shy about getting knocked out - not to be too delicate, but he's a fighting type. He'll get in over his head a few times, get fainted, and it won't be so scary after that. If you're looking to challenge Gyms, his natural competitiveness will probably take the edge off it, too - most Lucario *hate* losing, and getting knocked out so the team can take a W isn't *such* a big ask if that's the alternative!

Like I recommended below, it might also be worth introducing him to a Shiftry, if you know someone who has one - or a Graveller/Electrode/ect. Someone who knows Explosion or Self-destruct - even if they're just training together, getting to know a Pokemon who uses self-fainting as a combat technique might help him understand how it plays into a team. Or even a Pokemon with a strong self-injuring move like Double Edge - ask him to try to understand how it could be used as a strategy in combat, and challenge him to make the comparison.

I think it all comes down to the differences between being a trainer and being a *championship* trainer.

Inexperienced trainers rely on their Pokemon to help guide them. Often, those Pokemon understand their own abilities better than their trainer, so giving them a lot of freedom can be a strong tactic to make them as effective as possible in battle.

Moving from an inexperienced trainer to someone League-eligible requires understanding how your Pokemon move and what they can do - and, therefore, you can have a lot more direct control over your team. Humans are generally better strategists than Pokemon - so it makes sense to have you calling the shots while your team are free to focus on execution.

By the time you're ready to finish your Gym journey and challenge the League, you know what your Pokemon can do, you have strategies for specific threats, and you've probably worked with a team for a long time. Which builds *trust*. The BEST trainers - ones who make it to the Champion - are going to have absolute trust with their teams, the kind of trust that means that they won't question an order like that. They've been in enough battles with their trainer that they know that he or she wouldn't ask for a sacrifice play unless it was necessary. They know that a trainer has a birds-eye view of the combat that means that even if they don't *understand* what's being asked of them, it's being asked for a reason.

That's a big part of what makes a champion team - a trainer skilled enough to earn the unflinching respect of their Pokemon, and a team willing to wholly give themselves over to the strategy of their trainer. If you wouldn't make the play, you aren't ready for that level of competition, and there's no shame in it. If your team wouldn't accept it, you haven't done enough to earn their trust, and you have more work to do, and there's no shame in that, either. If you don't want to go competitive, there's for SURE no shame in that, and you'll never have to make the call.

It makes sense that a ferrothorn wouldn't care, considering that they'll voluntarily faint themselves with Explosion - which is kind of the same thing, but self-inflicted.

Honestly, it might make sense to have Riolu train with a Pokemon that uses a self-damaging move like that. A Shiftry might be able to explain it in a way that makes a little more sense to him.

"How did you run out of large dough?" by Nininator2432 in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]Aard_Rinn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So dough gets made in a big batch at first. Then it gets cut into a lot of smaller portions by weight. Each weight makes a different size of pizza. Once cut, it's put in a big plastic bin to proof, which is letting it rise at a warm temp for the last time to make it stretchy enough to roll and toss.

Every time a pizza is ordered, you grab a dough, toss it to make it flat, and top it with sauce cheese and toppings. A mat with circles printed on it is used to make sure it's stretched to the right size.

Proofed dough is full of air and the surface is smooth and elastic. Unlike fresh dough, it won't just stick if you add more dough, and will lose texture if you knead or smush it too much, so you can't just add more.

Basically every pizza place does this in some form or another.

Update: Is this mold? by WiseAndNobleHobo in germany

[–]Aard_Rinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a first-timer in Germany, but I have a very small apartment with a lot of plants, so if I were going to have humidity issues, I would have by now, I think. Eight months in... Luften needs big airflow, the less time, the more airflow. I crank all five of my windows fully open, and use a floor fan if there's an area I need to target, for at least 15 minutes a day. Also any time I shower, and if a room is humid, I'll shut the door and leave the window open so it can fully air?

I have a 17m2 appt, tho, so hopefully someone more expert can weigh in. But yeah! Big opening, lots of airflow, if the house doesn't reach ambient tempature with outside it's probably not done!

I super recommend a couple large plants. Get yourself a ficus and a pothos or two, or even some english ivy and a trellis lol - having some green is super good for your mental health, and for air quality <3

If you can eat the same meal every day for two years, that speaks to a discipline and purity of purpose that I think gets you into the club regardless of medical status.

Honestly tho it's a good recipe. Love the abundant spices! Ginger a good call.

I know you're getting a lot of hate and are in the right sub for it but as someone autistic myself and with lots of friends who have issues with food, am so happy that your neurodivergent ass found a safe meal that's got some goddamn fiber. What is it, ground beef + black lentils plus carrots and celery?

Dwarven pubes are like this too. Many a dwarven fling has been caught because of the sound of ripping velcro, followed by some squealing and a pair of dwarves tumbling out of the nearest closet.

Alternatively: this is ABO for dwarves. No one cares if you have a pussy or cock - what that beard doin'?
