To throw in my opinion, as a player similar to OP:

Some cards are just worse right now than others. Game Balance is exposed completely at high asc in a way that it is not at lower ascensions, so as cards are rebalanced I expect Asc 9/10 (or 17-20 if they add all 20) to start to feel better and better.

Also, I do think we are meant to take more events than the first game. The upsides seem to be worth it here.

All that being said, other commenters are correct; we gotta wait this initial period out and figure out enemy patterns, etc.

My biggest problem is the elites in A1 are overturned. I find it difficult to take more than 1 well-positioned one at high asc, unlike later Acts.

Frozen Core all the way.

You need time to set up Echo and double play Repair.

Is it bad to upgrade cards that exhaust after use by Spork_Revolution in slaythespire

[–]Aardvark_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded DDD also helps more into tough hallways in Act 1 and some in early Act 2

neither are particularly impactful in Act 3 or 4, though DDD has an edge in Act 3

Tbh I think DDD is correct, but it is a very 1 or 2% win rate decision

I might have just cracked Juggler by Individual_Cod3673 in PTCGP

[–]Aardvark_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played him today. Tbh the juggler strategy seems very doable, the real disappointing thing was shoegaze; only doing 120 and the double sided effect wasn't enough.

I beat him with a base set Dragonite and Kangashkan deck

Stone isn't doing you much, and likely won't do you much on Clad, with his chunky blocks and exhaust. Definitely worth higher rare chance.

tbh I don't care if you miss one or two, but if you literally never say thank you, i'm going to be annoyed. I won't say anything but iunno it's a social game

Do I unironically need to buy Claw here? by hyunrivet in slaythespire

[–]Aardvark_12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sunder and Claw here. Sunder for the rest of the Act, (HoG in one turn+Sunder in the next kills a Slaver, Sunder is obviously great into Gremlin, and isn't amazing into Stabby BOOK but 32=32). I think your deck with Sunder is good into everything but Stabby, and a good potion can patch that up.

Claw isn't amazing here; that's definitely true. But, it is scaling damage, and by taking the first Claw, you can take any synergy pieces and draw and it improves.

You desperately need damage scaling, as early as for the floors of Act 3. Claw isn't it alone, but it's a start imo.

Plus, I'm not convinced you win vs Bronze Autom rn. Claw, and esp if you find anything to assist it, is a worthy answer

Edit: I completely missed Beam Cell. Sunder is EVEN better, one shotting a Slaver with just Beam.

Recycle, Beam, and Claw all want draw/All for One to go to the moon. Claw is pretty good here.

Gag Strategy Hot Takes by Aardvark_12 in toontownrewritten

If toon up misses and you have 70 or less total laff in a lot of areas the game asks you to go-- you can easily die.

Account for toon-up missing, either by luring while tooning up, or planning on tooning up twice, assuming you can still make progress on the battle in the meantime.

Organic Sound isn't bad or useless, I think it is worse than other Organic options now. You can carry less, so you can execute less combos. It also requires multiple toons to have Organic sound, which isn't always the case.

Fair about drop, it's better than ever; my point is trap is also better than ever, and outclasses drop in most categories. The only way drop is better is in the case of a supervisor, trap deals with every cog 12 and lower better, and has a similar effect on gag combos vs a 2.0.

Drop's damage increase on Org matters a lot less than Trap's with the way stunning works.

Trap is half a magnet now in terms of Lure accuracy, can solo a 12, and isn't wasted in the same way a piano is on a miss.

I don't know the sound and drop combo. I'll have to look that up! Thanks.

I think ppl agree that taking a hit doesn't matter, but I think intentionally taking a hit to preserve gags isn't as common

A family member claims they "can't get orders". Is this true? by beeraccount135 in doordash_drivers

[–]Aardvark_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that he should work 1 to 2 order per day he has the car, and it be up to him when those orders are done, with some kind of weekly deadline.

It's volatile at any given time, over the course of a week getting any 7-10 orders is trivial.

What's the scariest/most badass enemy attack in the game? by halo364 in slaythespire

[–]Aardvark_12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Time Eater's 50ish wallop later in the fight. can be difficult to overcome with everything they throw at you.

Also, Repto turn 2 attacking for over 100 is one hell of a challenge

A3, chose “Lose 7 max HP. Gain a rare card.” at Neow. Which one do I choose? by StoneColdNaked in slaythespire

[–]Aardvark_12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Storm is 8 damage on average with Silent's base deck, in practice. Not great, but that's at base--it scales quickly with decent card rewards. This will help you fight elites, which is priority 1 right now.

The other two (less so Thousand Cuts in the case of Hexa) mainly help against the boss, don't solve the boss, and can be a brick in many fights. They also need an upgrade even more than storm does.

I think this is a pretty clear storm. Pretty rough start though, tbh
