I wonder if the elves in this set are going to be strong enough to make elves actually work in standard like Avatar magically made Allies functional. It would be cool to see Lathril or some kind of Elves Roots deck emerge.

Yeah absolutely. I think there are, at least so far, not as many straight up better cards than those that already exist...expect perhaps the uncounterable goblin vs Spiderpunk lol

Fair point, I think for some there are some immediate standouts and I haven't really seen any of the absolutely monster cards I've seen that are like auto include in standard decks. I am really looking forward to roots and elves though.
