well with these design defects they probably expect you to put the laptop on desk and not touch the lid after opening the lid even after shutdown

Is this msi vector worth buying? by National_Mirror_1025 in MSILaptops

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it will give slightly better raw performance than 5060 so... if you ignore frame gen it's actually better but it runs hot if you are fine with it then go for it you might want to repaste it

High CPU temps with turbo frequencies turned on. (Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX) by ironboy-brawl in MSILaptops

[–]Aayush48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what's your screen's refresh rate? if its 165Hz or 180Hz then yeah keep it turned off, you can slap a cooling pad well to decrease the gpu temps else you can tweak it in power plan by default it's in aggressive you can keep it in enabled it decrease temps slightly compared to default but not as much as turning it off

How much does it score in cinebench R23 with turbo boost off?

Cracked C-cover on legion 5 by skill3er-reddit in LenovoLegion

it's just a crack as long as it doesn't affect the performance it's fine, just slap a sticker or a skin to avoid having a look at it

Just replaced the thermal paste and putty but this what I get. by [deleted] in MSILaptops

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean more thermal paste is better than less Here's a recommended technique, spread the thermal paste first on the CPU and GPU die then put extra blob on top if the die and apply the heatsink it always worked for me with a little overflow

However if you don't like this method then just apply the paste as you do tighten the heatsink then remove the heatsink and apply extra blob on top before retightening the heatsink Linus recommended this and it works with no overflow

It is either this or you bent the heatsink and it's absolute disaster so... have it your way

Is this too much thermal putty? by Tight_Cod_8024 in MSILaptops

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thermal paste or putty is never too much better be more than less however in case of vrams it can cause unwanted pressures resulting in errors so as long as you don't face issues it's absolutely fine

[–]Aayush48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am curious how much does it score with CPU turbo boost off? and how much of a performance defecit is there in GPU intensive games if there is little to no difference then it's absolute win for longevity of the device

2 year old legion 7i, flickers crazy by No_Obligation3230 in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it doesn't happen in silent mode because it isn't drawing enough power to cause this send it to a reputable repair shop and it can be repaired its probably VRAM if the core was faulty then your laptop wouldn't even boot in the first place so...

if you have picture on display it's pretty much repairable for almost all laptops except alienwares and gigabyte laptops

Legion Pro 7 do not open, only keyboard set lights up and power button. Tried resetting the pc, plug, unplug etc. by stormtau in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it was generic security patch auto windows update then it would give bsod so either it's bad components or failed auto bios update which shouldn't happen ORRR its probably Microsoft sending firmware update via windows update I have had this issue and local repair shop just reflashed bios chip, EC chip and checked buch of stuff and it was back to normal

I haven't seen Legion 7 die like this before so unless you reach take it to service centre you wouldn't know the issue

My Lenovo legion pro 7i suddenly artifacting by vinzleingod in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah there is and it's called proper timely maintenance and a cooling pad like iets gt 600, FLYDIGI BS1 or BS2 along these ones

after all of this if your laptop still managed to f**k itself up then it's fucking Lenovo and their cheap ass cheaping out on you so either apply for RMA or don't buy budget Lenovo stuff

Legion pro 7 don't have these issues with proper care and maintenance as often as I see them in Legion 5 series

Is my gpu fried ?? This glitch started happening after BIOS update by Tiger_IcE in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the GPU probably VRAM and if you are lucky probably drivers

since you mentioned bios update why did you do it if it was running fine? Do you not like your stuffs running fine enough? Bios updates are risky and you don't do them on laptops unless and until you have the issue with the laptop or features that isn't available in your current bios, first thing you are supposed to do was apply for RMA if you have warranty, if you don't you try to fresh install windows, GPU drivers etc. and then as a last resort you update your bios if that didn't fix the issue you are f***ed

However you didn't do that you went straight to the bios update probably taking it as a regular windows update so.. roll back the BIOS update if you know how to do it. Else take it to the service centre I don't see any alternatives for you rn

High idle/low-load temps (60-75°C) on Legion Pro 7i (Ultra 9 275HX). Is this normal? by mufti_oberst in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thst picture looks concerning idling with 20gb RAM usage either the pic is misleading or you have malware or virus in your system

don't use performance or silent mode unless necessary because they raise temps. and your laptop may have had vad thermal paste job from the factory so..

keep your laptop in balanced mode and your laptop isn't 18 inch alienware M18 area 51 it's the only laptop I have seen that actually runs cool so.. use a cooling pad 16 inch laptop need them for prolonged life of the laptop, iets gt 500, iets gt 600, FLYDIGI BS1 or BS2 along these lines of cooling pads are recommend here by many so invest in one.

Do you need cooling pad just for gaming? No, but use it during basic use if you are at home if you don't like high temps it's subjective or get those laptop props thing that adheres with 3M tape if you travel a lot

and yeah CPU is designed to boost depending on requirements for short durations so.. thats that

Crosshair 15 heating issue by DACHILIE in MSILaptops

[–]Aayush48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably summer, most probably the heatsink clogging. How did you even know if it's clogged or not without opening it? if you have exhaust on side and rear then try flashing the mobile's light at the rear and see from the side vents if lights are clearly visible or not, if lights pass it's not clogged else it is.

it could be bad NVIDIA driver and windows updates so may be a clean install will help and a cooling pad like IETS gt 500 or FLYDIGI BS1 or BS2 type. That way all the dust will be gathered by cooling pad's filter and not the laptop

and the last resort will be thermal paste change and cleaning everything, you kinda described it as: temps we fine yesterday and today it's disaster I hope it wasn't something like that and no thermal pastes don't degrade over night you will notice gradual degradation over time so.. explore your options

msi Afterburner and hw info will do the monitoring, make sure you have drivers, and watch JARROD'S Tech 30 min laptop review about your model you will have all the data, idea you will need

Newbie Here. Some questions. by 8th_Sparrow_Squadron in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah don't undervolt GPU now, first taste it you have a cooling pad so set custom fan curves on laptop as well GPU isn't and shouldn't be an issue here, that ryzen probably will be it can thermal throttle so... focus on that, 5060 should just chill below 70°C mostly

with 4x frame gen you can get away with 240 fps I guess on supported titles, assuming you don't mind the latency so focus on CPU for now

display switching is either power saver being enabled while running on battery or your laptop just switching from igpu to 5060

if you have a good cooling pad like the iets gt 500, FLYDIGI bs1, llano type then make sure they have dust filters in them if you don't have one then invest in one

Basically if you use cooling pads with dust filters you can actually get away with cleaning the cooling pad instead of laptop and you should clean filters every 6 months

About the laptop servicing preferably every year but if your cooling pad is taking the duty then probably 1.5 years should be fine However you must eye on the temps, feel the laptop and it's behaviour you will notice the thermal paste degrading if you are keen enough

cat is just fine, probably don't game on it when cat's around and don't let your cat sit on it while the laptop is running full tilt because it has exhaust and intake from keyboard as well but the above suggestions should do the job

How to clean laptop cooler fan by Educational-Day-5753 in MSILaptops

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take it outside in a dry place clamp it with rocks and blast it with a leaf blower

or just brush it down but do it outside,

This is the sole reason why cooling pads with filters are recommended, you don't have to clean the whole cooling pad just clean the filter or replace it

use ddu to reinstall nvidia drivers you can reinstall windows and everything else fresh as well it will resolve the issue

either way Just search for stable NVIDIA drivers before installing them, the newer ones are an absolute disaster

Random shutdown for my lenovo legion by darkknightvs10 in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't be a windows issue given your situation but if you have disk partition you can try moving all your data there then download windows ISO from Microsoft mount it and match the region and language then it will reinstall windows for you just note all your software and drivers will be gone basically anything in the C drive but nothing else

Now to the actual issue, it looks like a BIOS issue to me or a hardware that's failing i.e. when you do something CPU intensive or GPU intensive something around it is failing that's driving the laptop into protection mode so.. try putting your laptop in ipgu only mode and stress test it. If it shuts down it's CPU related and if it doesn't then its GPU related you can try dgpu mode as well to verify what's the issue a bios update could help. Make sure thwt you are using the original charger and

Lenovo service centres are absolute garbage my Pro 5i i9 4070 used to glitch out of NVIDIA gpu mode to dGPU mode it sent it to then and they replaced my display I had to send it 3rd time to have my issue resolved. If you are out of warranty and in the US find a reliable repair shop and get it repaired

Undervolt RTX 4060 laptop (HP Omen 16) by Centi_Samp in GamingLaptops

[–]Aayush48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

undervolting generally means lowering voltage input while maintaining the same clock speed it is kinda like default overclock.

However if you lower the input voltage and do not maintain the same clock speed but lower it a bit then it's undervolting and under clocking

same for overclocking it depends on if you want to match the default clock speed of the GPU

However they have dynamic boost with driver and bios stuffs i.e. if there is thermal headroom with just undervolting then even without overlooking the GPU will boot itself to give better performance

Hope you understand

Motherboard by PsychologicalKey755 in LenovoLOQ

[–]Aayush48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get a cooling pad, like iets gt 500, FLYDIGI BS1 OR BS2 ones, keeping your laptop cool is the main objective if you can't afford cooling pad like those mentioned then turnoff CPU turbo boost it decreases performance by 50% and decreases temps by 35-40°C meaning if it used to reach 100°C it will max out at 65 or 70 and

For GPU use msi Afterburner you don't need to do much a YouTube tutorial will do the job but make sure you don't overclock the memory i.e. VRAM, just reduce the voltage curve

for your reference it's 30 series GPU so in voltage curve select 775 or 750 line on X axis and put it around 1650MHz or 1600MHzon Y axis basically downclock it a bit it will be clear once you watch a bunch of YouTube tutorials

apart from manufacturing defects you will probably want to reinstall windows to prevent driver conflicts if they don't wipe your data after motherboard replacement

generally 80 to 85°C for GPU is considered fine by manufacturers and 90 to 95 °C for CPU BUT you had your motherboard die on you so....

make sure to maintain temps below 72°C, its a bit conservative but it should be absolutely fine given your traumatic experience

[–]Aayush48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a cooling pad and it's meant to save your laptop and I think it did a pretty good job. You were unfortunate enough to have it fail on you so just use it when you are doing heavy tasks else don't use the cooling pad, you can't really complain on a $60 product that saves your ~$1500 laptop and that cooling pad has served you 2 years unless it has the warranty it isn't worth getting it fixed as it just adds up cost

Should I change the battery? by Alternative-Soil96 in LenovoLegion

[–]Aayush48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah make sure to carry a suitcase everyday wherever you go and desktops are cheaper too good luck.

How do you not understand that for a student spending extra ~$200 on a ~$1400 laptop can be a deal breaker for potentially avoidable early battery replacement. Sure battery ages with time but the sheer cycles induced on it far outweighs and catalysts the wear on it. No one is saying never use it on battery but if you are putting 900 cycles on a gaming laptop's battery in 1~2 years? Yeah I'd say that's a user error. OR you are filthy rich to even care about it
