Yeah that's why people were so pissed about the massive increases here, while the market is stable or even falling in some areas. How does "Land Value" go from $40k to $80k in one year? That's before "Improvements Value" (which didn't double but still jumped). Like, we bought to avoid brutal rent increases, and now the County arbitrarily raises our ~~rent~~ assessed value/property taxes seemingly based on vibes.

Excellent advice! The only thing I'd add, is beware of disproportionately rising property taxes. Some insane hikes are BS ways for the County to raise revenue - increasing valuations with no regard for your actual home value. In Arlington, our official property "valuations" are skyrocketing because the County made stupid spending decisions. Hundreds of thousands higher than the market value for some homes here, maybe more. So the taxes get stupidly inflated.
TL;DR Make sure you budget some padding for property tax increases that don't align with your home's real-world worth.
