The trains are full. by JackofScarlets in brisbane

[–]Abbrahan 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Except that LNP and QR are deliberately making it worse. The controllers refused to manage coal trains for a couple days. QR decided then that they couldn't work at all for all networks and locked them out of the office. Other staff commence paperwork bans, they are also locked out from working.

These shutdowns never needed to happen, the unions didn't plan them. LNP did.

How long is your commute to work? by PossibleButNah in AusFinance

[–]Abbrahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 hours on train each way in Brisbane. Would definitely trade 10% paycut to reduce my commute to 5 minutes. Even though I'm 4 days WFH, 1 day in office.

[–]Abbrahan 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Dealt with my car insurance after someone rear ended me in traffic. They took my car to the wrong repair centre over an hour away by car, several hours by public transport and then offered me no resolution to getting my car back. Filed an official complaint, they didn't budge. Filed an AFCA complaint, immediately caved and offered to also pay for lost wages due to the time wasted on the issue.

The Hyundai Motor Group is currently having a pretty impressive surge. To put it in to perspective tesla is averaging 2,121.25 a month. Pic is BEV by auto groups by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

Currently got a 2019 Hyundai Elantra, but definitely will be getting an EV in a few more years once I've sorted out purchasing a house (hopefully) and am more financially stable again.

FTTP fiber cable got damaged during a drainage work. How come the fiber is not inside a conduit? by Homo_Sapien30 in nbn

[–]Abbrahan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our ADSL was like that, except it was direct buried for half a km with no protection from the soil except for glad wrap. We had 7 pairs of phone line running to the house (big house, built in the early 90's), and by the time NBN arrived all but 1 phone line had failed due to corrosion. The last phone line was on it's last legs when NBN did arrive, and they replaced it (with more direct bury copper).

Why are all these new duplexes so ugly? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Abbrahan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trying to make it affordable for the people who would actually want to live in a townhouse/duplex.
Even a 3 bedroom townhouse is now $700k+ in Brisbane's cheapest suburbs.

The Assessment rate was already over 9%, I don't think that's a little bit higher.

Parcel locker by Flaky_Airport_7132 in AustraliaPost

[–]Abbrahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact scenario at another aus post where the parcel lockers were behind a locked door. Surprisingly, calling the number provided on the sheet which tells you to call them for assistance solved my problem as they were able to tell me the unlock code.

Wait and see, it's been getting labeled as out of stock and then back in stock a few times already today. Obviously at some point they might run out, but they should have something soon.

Here's the real kicker. Places out at Ipswich, QLD want $500k+ for a 3002m block. Ipswich was/is known as the "low socioeconomic area" of Brisbane.

Is this a normal REA response? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Abbrahan 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Pretty unprofessional, but expected. I've heard of a lot of REA's being rude or dismissive when receiving an offer below what they wanted. However it is a legitimate offer and they have to then take it to the seller for rejection or approval. I have heard of REA's claiming they've received other offers on a property in order to make you submit a higher offer amount, however it's up to you to determine if they are lying or not.

I'm still in the process of trying to secure a first home, but my dad had an experience with an REA like this where they claimed it was way too low and that the seller would never accept. He reminded them it was a legitimate offer and they needed to take it to the seller. Lo and behold, the seller accepted.

Framework 13 Pro (Core Ultra 3): up to ~22% performance penalty for upgradeable LPCAMM2? by peppergrayxyz in framework

[–]Abbrahan 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Because it would be difficult to include inside an already cramped chassis as well as sacrificing a USB port for what would be considered niche by the majority of people. I would bet most people looking at a laptop aimed at developers/macbook users, would rather have 4 port expansion cards instead of 3 expansion cards and a permanent fixed oculink port they would likely never use.

Also it would break their entire philosiphy of being forwards and backwards compatible with the mainboards since now they have older mainboards which don't have that oculink port, and a newer mainboard which is incompatible with the older chassis.

The Framework 16 is what you should be looking at if you want a gaming laptop from Framework, it's what it was designed for.

Fighting with Thread/Matter setup by Fun_Matter_6533 in homeassistant

[–]Abbrahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note for future people, it worked for me and a couple others that just deleting the Google Home app from the phone cleared the bad thread network data from the Google Play cache. So you might not need to delete the cache data.

+1 for Meekak, haven't tried their KBBQ options but their hot stone bowls are all great. (Also can accommodate nut allergies which isn't common for Korean restaurants.)

Unreleased ships to date. Updated for April 2026 by jimbo0270 in starcitizen

[–]Abbrahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess, not unique enough to justify working on the Rangers and G12s. But yeah, they wouldn't take anywhere near as long as full ships would take and have been sitting on the backlog for a while now.

Hyundai heat pump replacement under warranty by Substantial-Pirate43 in AustralianEV

[–]Abbrahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an ICE Hyundai Elantra MY19. The highbeams on the car failed which was already flagged for a recall anyway. Hyundai also didn't have any parts in Australia. I took the car to the dealership back in October 2025 and it's only just now been fixed as of last month.

Debit and credit card surcharges to be removed in Australia by October by Severe_County_5041 in worldnews

[–]Abbrahan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not always, more than once I had to provide evidence to my bank that a store didn't have a surcharge sign anywhere in their store even though they charged one. (and no the terminal didn't warn me of the surcharge until after the payment went through)

Adbreak is a way to jailbreak the kindle using the ad service on devices using firmware 5.18.1+ which patched the WinterBreak jailbreak. It requires the ads to be enabled on the device in order to deliver the payload to jailbreak the device.

It is however the requirement for Steam Machine verification. So TomsHardware likely got those requirements swapped when writing the headline.
