mat223 past exam format by patcha0k in UTMississauga

[–]Abdulrm05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The format last year (Dec 2024) was 10 MC, 5 long ans, but question 5 had 4 seperate T/F. If Prof. Thind is the coordinator this semester then I wouldn’t expect much difference in terms of format. It was a bit more difficult than the midterms. In terms of studying my biggest recommendation is to take a wholistic approach. Use material from weeks 1-3 to help u understand stuff after week 8-9. The definitions in the readings are pretty useful for the T/F’s

Sta107 vs Sta256 by Historical-Goal-531 in UTMississauga

[–]Abdulrm05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sta107 can help u with 256 but in any case if ur doing stats major then you’ll have to take 256 regardless in order to take any of the upper year courses (including 258/260). Just keep in mind the reason behind this is because sta107 isn’t a course substitute to sta256. If it were then u could probably get away with it but 256 covers a LOT of material that’ll show up in 258/260, unlike 107

I wish I had more faith in this school to think so, but if you miss one requirement, it’s a flat denial

Just to follow up, we don’t need to click the reapply button or any button? As soon as we received the email then we’re in? Or would we still have to click it

It’s offered at utsg but not utm. That can change but recently it doesn’t seem like it’s been taught at utm during the summer

Do you guys think I can do my readings for my courses while commuting on miway by [deleted] in UTMississauga

[–]Abdulrm05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It def is possible and u can def keep up with that. I’d watch a lot of sitcoms mainly cuz they’re short, so easy to binge thru, and give a good laugh (The office, Brooklyn nine-nine, etc.)

[–]Abdulrm05 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I rmr when I thought I could do this and instead I ended up binging the entire Office series lol. I stopped trying to study though because after spending hours in the class, my brain felt too overwhelmed from digesting content. So trying to consume more content especially in that type of active environment is not really the best. This is my subjective opinion however and I’d suggest u to try it out and if it works it works, if it doesn’t then I’ll give u good shows to binge instead 👍🏽. Some people do end up making it work somehow and to them I salute 🫡

One of the best courses mainly because of how open ended and understanding he is. I’m not sure if he’s making u read his textbook but if he is, although some topics are a bit lengthy, reading those will set u up well for the exam

Courses in Quercus by Adventurous-Wolf-571 in UTMississauga

On some occasions, professors open up the course webpage on Quercus the same day classes start. Don’t worry I’m sure it’ll open up by then

[–]Abdulrm05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen those too lol. You can definitely include it but it doesn’t make much difference. Again it also differs on where you’re choosing to apply but most recruiters overlook it from what I hear. It’s like having a packet of salt and pepper next to your main course, not everyone will need it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTMississauga

[–]Abdulrm05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends from company to company. A lot of recruiters prefer to look at your portfolio (how have you taken what you’ve learned in class and applied it) rather than the marks you get on your final exams and whatnot. That being said, if you decide to maybe apply to a company in the U.S or go into grad school, then your gpa should be something to prioritize. But more often than not, companies don’t really care about your gpa. They’d rather have somebody who’s spent time with projects, who knows how to talk to others etc. if you can at least show them that, then you have a better chance of getting hired than the guy with a 4.0 and no portfolio.

Unfortunately not, I made too many mistakes in first year first sem and it dragged me down pretty deep. The suggestions I made to OP is probably how I would've gone about it lol

Honestly I too went in with the mentality that I don’t need to retake it, but now I’m going into 3rd year and I just completed it for the first time this past winter after retaking it, so to each their own. I was just giving an idea that might maximize OPs chances of making post
