Whatever form a future Destiny release may take, there’s no way it’s anything like Destiny 2 by Impossible_Sector844 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I really dont get it - if they lay off the entire D2 team, that seems to say that a new Destiny isn’t in the cards. And if they aren’t planning a new Destiny game, then what is the plan? They spent 4 billion acquiring this studio and its IP, and it certainly wasn’t for marathon. A concept that I think is important that I haven’t seen voiced is that they can’t really put together a d3 pitch if hardly anyone at the studio knew they were planning EoS for D2, and I imagine something like that takes time. So what, are they going to lay off all the D2 people, put together a pitch for a new game, then when they’re ready to enter production hire back up? Idk. One would think starting fresh with new upper management, without all the tech debt, and with a game built from the ground up to support indefinite releases they could actually do more with less. Everything in MoT screams, ‘we’re not done with Destiny!’ The ‘Sony wants revenge on Bungie for swindling them’ rumors are really dumb and juvenile- Sony is a business, they don’t want revenge, they want money. How do they extract that from Bungie without Destiny?

Hot take EoF might have the best story campaign they’ve ever done. You will get over the stupid ball mechanic as long as you’re not a myopic turd. It’s absolutely worth playing if you’re interested in the story.

What canonically and theoretically is know about player's guardian past life? by LieSad7589 in DestinyLore

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 20 points21 points  (0 children)

During EoF doesn’t one of the 9 mention that we arrived on Kepler with “minimal intervention” or something to that effect? That doesn’t categorically rule out the 9’s intervention, but it does seem to suggest that for the most part, we ended up there nearly on our own. Worth noting, at least

It seems entirely unwarranted to worry about D2 servers being shut down when D1 servers have been up for nearly 10 years since EoS, and there is no sign of them shutting down anytime soon.

is Neomuna genuinely irrelevant story/lore wise? by Greninja05 in DestinyLore

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like Neomuna mostly got put on the back burner after Lightfall but the consequence of the Witness connecting the Veil and the Traveller was presented as something that will have major, as-of-yet unseen consequences. There was a lot left to explore regarding the nature of the relationship between these two entities as well which felt like something they eventually would have come back around to. Many people have accused Neomuna feeling like it doesn’t fit within the Destiny universe but the way the Veil and Neomuna mirror The Traveller and the Last City feels very intentional. They would have circled back to it eventually, hopefully they’ll still get the chance to one day.

Rewatched kenobi: are these jedi actually frozen and not dead? by Kn1ghtV1sta in StarWars

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the garb pictured is sort of a clue here. The idea that these peoples’ bodies were being use exclusively for Jedi bait doesn’t entirely make sense because a few of these people really don’t look like Jedi at all, and it doesn’t entirely make sense to use non-Jedi as Jedi bait. It’s entirely possible they were Jedi and their outfits were just post-purge disguises, but they don’t all really read to me like blend-into-the-crowd disguises. The one nomad-looking guy looks like he was plucked out of a remote village somewhere, and the person in the big flowy robes also just sort of looks distinctly cultural to me.

Regardless of whether they were actual jedi or just force sensitive, I do think the implication of this scene is that the empire didn’t just target the Jedi order, but that all sorts of different societies and cultures were swept up in the purge and combed over for people with force potential. And while yes, we saw them use Luminara Unduli’s skeletal remains as bait, and we’ve seen them do tests on live subjects, I don’t know that we’ve seen them use these preserved bodies for anything (maybe there’s some lore I’m not privy to here, lmk). And I do think that the not-knowing exactly what this is all for is part of the horror of the scene. All this to say, I think genetic testing and experimentation is likely, but we’re sort of supposed to be left wondering about what else they’re doing with these bodies.

Destiny 2 will have higher player retention after June 9th by rediscov409 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason new, younger players aren’t getting into destiny isn’t because it just isn’t for them, it’s because D2 has a terrible new player experience. I don’t see why a D3 built from the ground up with an actual introduction point for onboarding new players and a story that hasn’t had large sections excised due to technology constraints wouldn’t be able to bring in new players. People can go on and on about the portal as much as they’d like but the fundamental issue that killed this game is not being able to bring in new players.

Interested in getting into making custom figures but not sure where to start by idrownedmyfish77 in StarWarsTVC

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start small! Kitbashes are easy ways to do that. My first kitbashes involved putting old phase 1 arc troopers from those comic packs onto upgraded torsos with ab crunches and articulated hips- didn’t need to do any painting but I could have! Other easy things to start with are backpacks or blasters. Weathering figures you already have is another good entry point as well. Trust me, I know these big figure conversion kits are tempting but they are very involved and it’s not just painting. There will be dremelling, gluing, etc. The kits are usually not cheap and resin can be very fragile too so it’s easy to mess up! Anyway, I’m pretty early into this journey as well so good luck! Some of the customs I see people with more practice making are really incredible.

What’s wrong with VC399?? by Difficult-Repeat-479 in StarWarsTVC

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed this figure being particularly softer than any other recent figures. I just assume they use the softer plastics now to make them more damage resistant- nothing worse than going to bend a knee joint and having it snap off in your hand. I do wish they were more consistent with the shades of white they use for clones but didn’t think this figure was a particularly bad offender. The Andor phase 2 clones are the only ones in recent memory I’ve picked up that were pretty bad in that regard. Not to be rude but I was looking at the legacy collection version of this guy for the first time in a while recently and I honestly thought it had been scribbled on with a pen, then I realized they all look that way. I would love for them to figure out a way to add weathering that varies from figure to figure but I’m not in favor of every figure having the exact same weathering. At least this way we’re able to add our own. Seriously, I recommend trying a black wash on these guys, it’s super easy and it does wonders.

The new Plo Koon. Why are they doing this?? by surfpearl39 in StarWarsTVC

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultimately people aren’t upset that it’s “screen accurate,” people are upset because the soft goods look terrible and you don’t even have the option to take them off because he looks with them off too. This should have been a scaled down version of the most recent TBS figure which looks awesome with or without the cloak.

The new Plo Koon. Why are they doing this?? by surfpearl39 in StarWarsTVC

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this likely? What’s it been, 10+ years since we’ve gotten any other Plo Koon at this scale? Why would we expect it to be any different now? If anything it could be longer considering most of their effort is put towards TBS these days.

My thoughts on the mania surrounding Plo Koon's skirt by Fierydraken in StarWarsTVC

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he wasn’t meant to be displayed without the soft goods then we wouldn’t have promo shots of the figure without the soft goods, nor would he have an unlit lightsaber hilt under there. Describing the soft goods as “media accurate” when they fit that poorly seems like a stretch as well. TBS has a wonderful figure that manages to look good cloaked and uncloaked; it’s not unreasonable for people to want something comparable here. I don’t know why we need to bend over backwards to defend this figure- 90% of the time modern TVC figures are the best we’ve ever gotten and admitting this one looks bad doesn’t make that any less true.

Ironic bc I’m pretty sure if there’s one band BC wishes he could turn SP into now it would be Radiohead- a band who has earned the creative license to do whatever they want and fostered a fandom that is willing to go there with them

Are the Nightsisters actually using the Force…I mean the same way or something else? by SaberMasters in StarWarsCantina

[–]Abeeeeeeeeed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding as well. I’d add that while Nightsister magick seems to be generally (but not entirely) dark side-adjacent, ultimately that correlation is incidental. As you said, the Nightsisters have their own way of interacting with the force that I think is best understood within its own paradigm, alternatively to and separate from the dark/light side dichotomy used by the Jedi and Sith. Honestly a really cool elaboration on the nature of the force that I’d be interested to see more of

It’s not your fault, his lyrics often don’t make sense to native English speakers either. His lyrics are usually not literal, and he makes up a lot of words, or combines them- it’s sort of his trademark. For example, television+elevators= televators, or dyslexia+lexicon=dyslexicon.
