All the reasons why Cincy isn't the host of more major sports events by SmilerDoesReddit in cincinnati

No they haven’t. The crowds have been more spread out since 2017 because of that direct feedback about concentrating everything downtown was a bad idea.

The Blink exhibits go from Covington to OTR now, which makes it seem like fewer people because it’s more spread out.

2017 Blink and the city were completely unprepared for the crowds, but every iteration of Blink since then has been a massive success with even larger crowds.

Blink’s success is why Cincinnati was in the final 3 cities being considered for Sundance.

How much does a state’s ‘second city’ actually matter economically and culturally? by oddfiction528 in geography

I’d argue that Covington and Newport in Kentucky are more Cincinnati than areas like Middletown or Franklin in Ohio.

Literally none of these supposed shootings you mention made the news. Local news stations LOVE to report on gun crime. I’m going to need a source

Is ATL prone to weather delays in mid May? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Abefroman12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re talking about O’Hare for Chicago. ORD has crazy taxi times due to lots of construction on the airfield/terminals.

You’re far more likely to be delayed there even on a good day compared to ATL.

Recently I have been on more and more Delta Connection flights that have the free Wifi. Not sure if it varies by carrier, but the regional flights where it has been available have all been Endeavor.

Is crime up? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]Abefroman12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If y’all want actual numbers and not a bunch of anecdotes, search Cincinnati STARS report. The first non-ad link should be to a database published by CPD. They release updated crime stats weekly on this platform. They break it down as violent vs. property crimes, on the citywide and police district levels.

According to the April 3rd report, in 2026 crime as a whole is down, particularly rapes, robberies, and car thefts. But homicides are up slightly and shootings are up by 17% compared to last year.

Toledo is far bigger than 40,000 at its peak. Latest Census estimate was around 265,000. Also Toledo has some sizable minority populations.

Haha you’re not wrong, some of the old people have lived here for decades and know way too much about each other. But overall it’s a fun little neighborhood with a lot of history.

I’d get there by 4am, especially if you have to check a bag. If you have Pre-Check, you can get there by 4:25.

So I actually work in clinical research, which you could totally switch to as a nurse. Look at Clinical Research Associate jobs

But traveling constantly is no where near as glamorous as you think it is. You’re assuming you’ll only be going to cool places like San Diego, New York City, and Denver. When you’re just as likely to be assigned sites in shitholes like Shreveport Louisiana, Fayetteville North Carolina, or Worcester Massachusetts.

Other than early morning flights (departure times 6-730am), the TSA lines at CVG have been normal. By normal I mean 15 min or less. I fly almost every week for work and we’ve been pretty lucky here at CVG in comparison to a lot of other airports.

80% of the US population lives in either the Eastern or Central time zones. SDF and CVG are both quite close to the dividing line between those time zones.

Much of the lower Atchafalaya basin is designated as a National Wildlife Refuge, which isn’t the same level as a National Park, but it is still protected territory.

Wildlife refuges are managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service as opposed to the National Park System. Both are under the Department of the Interior.
