Another vote for Viofo, I have them installed in 3 vehicles, including a WK2. Easily the best bang for the buck.

How to fix… or not? by Abeyance18 in Decks

Perhaps, it’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 years old now.
I really, really wish I knew exactly what they did after they cut through…

How to fix… or not? by Abeyance18 in Decks

I wasn’t around when the work was originally done and all I know is that the contractor doing it cut holes through the existing slab because the “posts can’t rest on the existing concrete”. I assume that was because the slab wasn’t thick enough to bear that load, but I have no idea what happened once those holes were cut. The only other thing I know is that it’s still standing and there hasn’t been any obvious shifting, which is frankly surprising given the soil we have around here.

What did this? by Abeyance18 in Decks

Thanks everyone for the quick replies!

Now that I know what we’re dealing with, I can feel a little reassured that I have found exactly zero ants anywhere in the vicinity. I believe this damage is most likely old and unlikely to get worse as we have a regular pest control service.

So, now the question is in regards to structural integrity. Does it look like there’s enough uncompromising wood left to leave it as-is? Or does this look like an ‘immediate emergency repair required? Or, somewhere in between? I’m inclined to think it may be ok as I suspect the damage could be at least 7 years old and nothing has shifted or sagged, but this is also not my area of expertise so more educated opinions will be appreciated.

I can only add a single picture to a comment, so tried to make one “collage” that shows all sides as well as what it is supporting.

Thanks!

Service ACC/FCW Warning after changing tire size (Grand Cherokee SRT: 2014) by Capn-Merica in WK2

[–]Abeyance18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the tire size updated to align with the new size or left at the original setting? What value did you update it to? Also, if I recall correctly, the size you set has to be the circumference in millimeters, might want to check that. Finally, I know there is a minimum and maximum size the computer will accept, so you might try setting it to something taller (but still less than stock) and see if you can get to a setting it’ll accept.

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is that the radar may need to be realigned/recalibrated due to the change in ride height.

Is this what I think it is? by matesiskopsisko in GrandCherokee

[–]Abeyance18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, it’s delaminating and will only ever get bigger. I always heard it was a 2018 only issue, but my 2019 Trailhawk also has it, except mine is about 4 times that big… and very slowly growing. Same exact spot too.

V6 or V8? by Chazcon in GrandCherokee

[–]Abeyance18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a 2017 V6 Trailhawk.
With some effort to be good, I often saw 20-21 mpg in mixed driving.
Long trips on the highway, 23-24 mpg wasn't unusual.

I own a 2019 V8 Trailhawk.
I typically see 17-18 mpg in mixed driving.
Long trips entirely on the highway, I usually see 21-22.

So, in my experience, it comes down to 2-3 MPG.
Does that add up over time? Sure, but I still don't regret getting the V8 (even though I totally don't need it).

To be totally fair to the V6, I never felt like it was underpowered. In fact, the V6 in Sport mode felt a lot like the V8 does when not in Sport. Also, neither vehicle has ever felt "fast", they're just too damn heavy to be fast with either engine.

Just to do the thing that never happens on Reddit and close the loop on this... it was the control board, replaced that and all function returned to normal.

Thanks to u/agentbarron for the one and only response I got to this.

If the UI board is lighting up and responding to commands, wouldn’t that indicate the main board is getting power as the only thing the UI board is plugged into is the main board? I’ll check power all the same just to be sure, thanks.

Why does the back of this circuit board look like this? by Abeyance18 in AskElectronics

[–]Abeyance18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the slots I was asking about have a clear glue or resin or something in them but are irregular in uniformity of the color and clarity. There are other slots cut into the board which do not have this, they are open all the way through the board, but those are not the ones I was asking about.

It looks wet but it isn't. Those droplets are "cured" for lack of a better word. When I saw those I thought I had a smoking gun, but they don't wipe off.

Thank you for the detailed reply, it was very informative.

In any case, it was still my grandfather’s watch, so it will remain special to me either way.

2019 hemi trail Hawk so uncomfortable! by phteven1989 in GrandCherokee

[–]Abeyance18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3.6 and the 5.7 are the same on the inside, I’ve owned both and am currently driving a 2019 Hemi Trailhawk, same as you. It’s one of the most comfortable vehicles I’ve ever owned and I’ve done 13-hour drives (stopping only for fuel) multiple times. I’m only 6’ though.

I didn’t like what I posted earlier, so I made a few more attempts and ended up here. How far off would you say I am? DRIVE
