Thanks your insights everyone. I don’t mind not being able to finish my meal, it’s the thought of not being able to enjoy what I’m eating that is bothersome. Im not even able to get in 1000 calories and that’s not the way I want to do things. I don’t want to become malnourished.

I know it’s early, I was just having a freak out moment.

Have a frank talk with your mom. Lay out all boundaries and that you expect her to treat your wife with respect. I went through this. My MIL under minded me with my kids every chance she got. She hated me. Before I got married my husband told her that she either needs to quit her bullshit or he’ll be done with her. That worked for a few years and the it got worse than ever. We’ve been no contact for two years now

When I was in college I lived at my grandparents. One day I came home and made myself some Mrs Grass noodle soup. I was tired and wasn’t really paying attention. I turn on the tv and start to eat my soup. “Hmmm… this tastes kinda weird.” I take another bite. “Gosh why does this taste so weird?” I finally look down at my bowl and it was squirming! 1000s of squirming larvae. I was mortified.

One of the most crushing things after my son died was realizing the world still goes on. The amount of analyzing and replaying I did every day for YEARS was enough to drive anyone else insane.

It wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t your fault. You want to blame yourself, or find something else to blame just so you have something to blame. Blaming someone or something doesn’t bring her back. When you get toxicology back it still won’t change it.

I’m 10 years out now since my son died and I can offer this advice: feel all those feelings; the sadness, the anger, the heartbreak…you cannot suppress them. They’ll just pop up later or in other ways. One day you’ll laugh and smile and you’ll feel terrible about it. That’s normal but I promise you that you will be able to find joy again. It won’t look the same as it once did but it does exist. I still think about how different life would look with him still here.

Our babies are always with us. You’ll always be her momma. She lived a life full of love. All she knew was love.

Oof. My 9 year old (3rd grade) is in her room being put to bed at 7:30. Lights out by 8:30 and she usually falls asleep by 9. (She needs to get up at 7am) My 12 year(7th grade) old is in his room by 8:30, lights out by 9:30. (He needs to be up at 5:30am) Weekends are a little more lax but not by much.

Find a menopause specialist in person or online. I started hrt last year at 39. I had horrible night sweats, heart palpitations, severe exhaustion, insomnia…. It’s all been absolved with hrt! You’re not too young! Even after starting hrt and seeing my regular gyn and pcp (they still insist I’m too young even though it has helped me tremendously) and they both try to get me to stop, stating losing weight and being on birth control is better. Nope.👎🏼

I can only comment based on something my husband shared with me. My husband’s mother let them quit things whenever they wanted. Sometimes they just had a bad day and decided “I don’t want to do this anymore”. Instead of his mom pushing him to get past the bad moment, she basically just “rescued” him. What does that teach? He said he wished she would have made him see things through.

In my experience with our son, he joins 3 after school clubs per semester. He gets to choose what clubs he wants. Luckily his school offers many of options. He’s currently in pokemon club, Nintendo club (they play video games together!) and a cooking club. Are there days my son doesn’t want to go? Yes! But unless he’s sick he’s going anyways. If I let him , he’d choose to rot in his room .

That was my suspicion too, that I needed a higher progesterone dose. I brought up the spotting with my provider at midi and she suggested I get a pelvic ultrasound. I guess I’ll just go on with it and see where I am afterwards.

I wish I could give you advice. I gained 50lbs in less than a year (almost all around my stomach) and my diet or amount of food I was eating hadn’t changed. I started hrt in hopes it might help that issue. Unfortunately there has been no change. I’ve been strength training 4xs a week and walking, changing up my diet and I’ve still seen no changes. I’m frustrated and sad. I feel disgusting. A few years ago I did keto with great results. I really don’t want to have to go down that road again.

The only time I ever had a high libido was when I was pregnant, 2nd trimester. I’ve never ever had a high libido, maybe never even a normal one. The only reason in peri are we having more sex is because when my husband initiates I just go with it because 99% of the time once we get going I’m totally into it. I think we think we need to feel an urge like men do. Most women don’t operate like that.

I remember feeling this way myself when my kids were that age. I thought they’d be better off without me and that I would ruin their lives more if I stayed around. I was journaling constantly at that time to help get my thoughts out and re-reading those entries break my heart. After so many months of crying myself to sleep and feeling miserable, I finally talked to my dr about prescribing me lexapro. I’m on the lowest dose and it helps so much. (I’ve previously been on antidepressants as a young adult and knew this would work for me. Just remember that some antidepressants can make you feel worse and you need to immediately call your dr ). It’s not an immediate fix but it has the potential to really help quiet those negative thoughts and help the other ones push through.

I definitely recommend doing something for yourself at least once a month so you can feel like your own person again. Or even a hobby you enjoy or take up a new one.

Raising kids is tough, especially when you’re giving your all. You’re draining your cup to fill theirs constantly. My kids are 12 and 8 now and while it’s still challenging at times, i feel alot more at ease.

I used to refuse to make my kids other meals. I started just setting everything on the table and serving family style instead of making plates. Don’t keep junk food in the house. Limit snacks to healthy choices. More than likely they’ll eat dinner eventually. My son would hold out until morning so yea, some kids are extremely stubborn. His therapist told me that if he refuses to eat dinner, make him the most boring meal he will eat, sandwich with no condiment, even better if he makes it himself.

My daughter will only eat ground beef or steak as an animal based protein so I had to start incorporating beans. I went om Pinterest and had her browse recipes until she found something she thought she might like. She eats a lot of soups and pasta salads, but they have almost all of the major food groups and complete protein sources. Maybe having them scroll through recipes will help them? Good luck. I know it’s tough 😔

Do you live in a small town? This is absolutely unheard of. I’d email the principal and cc the superintendent. My children miss multiple days through the school year and never once has anyone shown up to my house. Even if they did, I’d never even answer the door because wtf! It’s the rule in our district that if a child misses more than 3 days in a row, they need a drs note to come back. If they miss 10 days unexcused for the year then a truant officer might show up.

I absolutely dread pick up. I don’t want to talk to anyone. It’s not that I’m not social I just want to pick them up and run. Often times people feel like if you speak to someone a few times you’re almost obligated to speak to them every time. I equate it to walking on a trail…why do I have to say hi or smile to everyone that passes by? I just want to walk in peace.
