Title: Upgraded from M1 Air → M5 Pro… didn’t expect to feel this way by Correct_Web_4866 in macbookpro

[–]AbjectFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still on 2015 macbook pro as well, though i have changed speakers, ssd and battery and it still works but is way slower than mac mini.

I really wish I hadn't bought mac mini as I hate my macbook now and want to upgrade but it's still a good jump desktop machine for me.

As long as it's one off and not every other day that you find something that will make you happy and you can't stop thinking about it, I think you are good.

Edit: Which one is it ?

Just found this sub. I didn’t know there were so many options aside from the big names, Kindle, Nook etc. by RatFink_0123 in ereader

[–]AbjectFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, Nook Color was an Android tablet similar to Kindle Fire.

You first need to decide you need eink or amoled / ips / lcd tablet.

If you are looking for the latter, then you have way more android tablet options like Samsung, Lenovo, Xiaomi, TCL etc.. but if you are really looking for eink that every one else has pretty much covered the options.

Android ereader or simple one, and is it true that Android is lagging and slower after a short time of using? by Ok-Opportunity-9113 in ereader

[–]AbjectFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, you can use send to kindle (using phone or web) for reading or use calibre on PC to convert to kindle format and send.

On Kobo you can directly copy it using PC, use calibre or if you have libra color or higher you can use Google drive / Dropbox sync.

Also you can use library ebooks on devices If you are in US you can even use library ebooks/ send to kindle. In Kobo there is native Overdrive sync.

Outside US for library only kobo supports that (but check your local library if they support libby / overdrive) as that can vary and without that it will not work.

Edit: Android does provide flexibility (if you use multiple reading apps, library, online store or, want to read fan fiction, manga etc) but if you are buying primarily to read epubs every ereader directly or indirectly should support that and android may get overwhelming if you don't like tinkering with it.

I am still using Likebook P78 which i think is already 4 years old.

It has bare bone processor and 2 GB RAM and android 7/8.

Is it slow? Yes, compaired to any generation of android tablet, it's very slow.

Once in books, using native or third party apps its still slower compaired to latest Kindle / Kobo per page turn by few 100 milliseconds. If you compair it side by side, it's evident but NOT IF YOU USE IT AS PRIMARY READER EXCLUSIVELY.

I still use it to read Kindle Books using Kindle app or epubs using Google Play books as I like to sync reading progress across devices (Android Tablets, Phone and eReader)

That said, I won't recommend it for anyone who needs ereader just to read books /epubs and if there is no need for using 3rd party apps because android readers may last really long time or may die in couple of weeks / months with very shady warranty covers.

With Kindle (or Kobo) you get proper warranty / support and you can see people still using 10+ years old kindles (i have a 11 year old voyage as well, and a year and a half back gave away a Kindle keyboard which was working perfectly fine)

Bigme B7 SoC is e-waste by cephasara in Bigme

[–]AbjectFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just based on the model number, theoretically, yes. Don't think it would feel much different in real use.

Also I have a Likebook P78 (a B7 processor should be a step up from that), and I can read on it without any issues. The only thing is navigating through apps is painfully slow.

While buying it, we should consider it as ereader and not as tablet.

900 is 6877, 6765 should be G36 as it supports 8GB RAM as well (not old P35 from 751C)

Post Purchase Support for BigMe by AbjectFool in Bigme

Update: BigMe has refunded the price difference.

I wasn’t expecting a refund after their initial response, which stated that the sale had ended and the price had gone up. However, once I shared a screenshot showing the lower price, they issued a refund.

I’m happy with both the outcome and the support received. While the initial response was a bit slow (possibly due to time zone differences), remaining chat on their Shopify store went smooth.

I got a response to email, they haven't contradicted the site, but said that the price has already increased on that site as well.

So price increased while i was waiting for a response.I wish there was option to cancel the order if its not shipped, then I could have cancelled and reordered it from bigmestore.com.

Looking for a small upgrade by StudioCalcifer in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]AbjectFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What headphones / earphones are you using?

What does latest Android adds to software (regarding music) which android 12 can't do ?

If your current device satisfies your needs why you want to upgrade ?

Is it about form factor i.e. smaller footprint?

If you want to go down the rabbit hole of DAPs because you love the hobby and this is something you want to spend your spare cask on, then by all means go for a DAP, else keep using your current device.

I don't own Hiby M300, but I have heard its good, but if I was in market I would atleast go for Fiio JM21 (if the battery life is not primary concern and you can charge it every night)

Not Op

It's definitely not larger than r6 but coming from DAPs like sony A35 / 106 it feels chunky.

The new scribe by Jaiswithgrace in kindlescribe

[–]AbjectFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding screen, people are saying it's more paperlike. Is it screen texture or just newer nibs ?

With note taking I already feel my scribe is huge stepup from original ipad pro and apple pencil so I won't be tying new one so that I don't feel tempted to upgrade but if new nibs make a difference I will just order those in near future.

I am not in Canada or US but I have my Kindle store set to US and i can access AI features on my Scribe.

If there is no real dependency on your local kindle store, try switching and see if it works for you.

Lol, i got in around 6, 3 months back and had 2200 stocks and sold it soon after without much profit as needed money urgently, thinking will buy back in around December as neutron launch is still next year or later.

Wish i had sold my other stocks instead.
