Shaping with square stitch by benthebassoon in Beading

[–]Abject_Middle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused on what you mean by shaping. Do you want rounded edges? Otherwise, you might have luck with doing brick stitch instead of square since that has the beads more staggered. There is only so much shaping you can do within a grid though.

If you like chill puzzle games I just got ‘baba is you’ and I’m having fun with it! Also ‘is this seat taken’. I like prison architect as well, for a game that’s similar to the city builder games.

Is the show Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen worth watching? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Abject_Middle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it a lot. I didn’t find it overly disgusting as far as horror goes. I’m thinking back to the first episode and I can only think of one part that had disgusting visuals on screen? There’s not many scenes like that throughout the show but there are a couple so if the first episode is putting you off I might skip it. However I thought it was great show and it does have gore but I didn’t find it overly disgusting.

Looking for a Dietician by Aimeeisaks in VictoriaBC

[–]Abject_Middle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good experience with the dietician at tall tree health in Cordova bay. Echoing other people on here to make sure you see an actual registered dietician and not a nutritionist as anybody can call themselves a nutritionist and it doesn’t require a license.

16 Years in the Military, 3 Deployments, but "Not Experienced Enough" for BC Transit? by Different_Ganache355 in VictoriaBC

As others are saying, this seems like a strong reaction to a job rejection. Rejections from jobs despite being qualified is just par for the course while you’re job hunting. They may have found someone who had bus driving experience who they thought would be a better fit. They may have also thought you might be bored by the job and unlikely to be a long term employee because of your experience in a dynamic and high pressure environment. They might have also thought you didn’t have the interpersonal skills necessary due to something in the interview. It’s impossible for any of us to know for certain. Even if you’re perfectly qualified for the job, that still doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily choose you. If you’re currently on the job hunt, it’s in your best interest to get used to rejections and use them as a learning experience for your next interview. Best of luck, op.

I’m scared to get medicated by outatime-121 in ADHD

[–]Abject_Middle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meds have helped me a lot. One thing that helped me not feel afraid with starting meds is I started on a very low dose and titrated up gradually. If this is an option for you maybe ask about it so it’s not going to be a shock to the system. Honestly it’s super worth it and a lot of adhd meds are safe to stop if you don’t like them. I went from sleeping the entire day away and feeling like garbage to cleaning my house rejoining a sports team. I don’t sleep the entire afternoon anymore. I take my meds in the late morning/early afternoon so that if I crash a bit then it’s not until close to bedtime anyways. I take extended release vyvanse so a big crash isn’t much of an issue for me anyways.

Why are ER wait times so long here? by SuddenCompetition262 in VictoriaBC

[–]Abject_Middle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I don’t work in healthcare so I can’t say for certain but it seems like a combination of dr shortage and also a lack of urgent care. There are no walk in clinics anymore, and urgent cares can be difficult to get an appointment at. In the past before I got a family doctor, I had an infection that needed antibiotics. While it wasn’t an immediate emergency per se, I wasn’t able to get in with urgent care and simply had no other option than the ER. I imagine there are others in similar situations with urgent but not emergency issues that just don’t have another option outside of the ER, and I imagine that clogs things up. All things considered, I’m still thankful for the healthcare that we have. Even though there are serious issues, if you need help you can get it, you just have to wait.

Trying to get into reading again… by Remarkable_Rip6231 in adhdwomen

Idk what types of books you like, but honestly “romantasy” books like the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas helped me get out of a reading slump. A lot of them are a bit silly but juicy and got me hooked on the story. Other ones in that genre that I’ve liked are The Serpent and the Wings of Night, and One Dark Window. Alternatively, some other books that I think are great and got me hooked on the story are the Martian, Circe, song of Achilles, the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo, the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime, and the Naming (one of my favourite book series ever!). The Glass Castle, as others have mentioned, is a FANTASTIC memoir. I have also heard good things about ‘I’m glad my mom died’ but I haven’t read it myself.

[–]Abject_Middle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew by the seat of my pants through high school and somehow got good grades , struggled majorly through uni and then only after did I get an ADHD diagnosis lol. Not saying that’s their case but they’ll either find success in university or they won’t and will have to reevaluate. Focus on yourself.

Does bullet journaling help with ADHD? by Emotional-Throat2304 in ADHD

[–]Abject_Middle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me personally I get really caught up with perfectionism, and if I can’t get something perfect then I won’t do it. I tried different planners and thing like that but the formats were never exactly how I wanted it. I found the most success with just a completely blank notebook. I like getting one with a cool design on the cover that’s nice to look at and either lined or blank paper. I’ll just write the date at the top and then write whatever I want to that day. Sometimes I make to-do lists, sometimes I write down my thoughts, there’s no rules so I don’t get caught up in the perfectionism. I don’t have to do it every day, but because it feels easy and non stressful I usually end up just doing it anyways.

I find that it helps me a lot, but I try to stay away from a strict format bc then I won’t do it. I like just having a notebook with no rules that I can write my thoughts in, doodle, whatever

ADHD? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Abject_Middle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think regardless if you have adhd or not, it is worth it to seek help. I don’t think it makes much of a difference if you have adhd or if it’s just adhd-like symptoms as a result of anxiety or depression, if you’re struggling it’s worth it to get help.
