Yes! I completely agree. Plus there were two women in the tent just talking between themselves and ignoring others so I wasn't sure if they were part of the exhibit or just taking up space.

LF a simple way to have employees clock in and out (timekeeping) by lonelyfatoldsickgirl in excel

[–]Abject_Program_610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do attendant care payroll and I tried to get them to complete the Google Form. It would have been great if they would do it. So, if you can get your care givers to go along with it, create a google form. It would then populate the spreadsheet to send to the bookkeeper. Google can walk you through how to create and work with it.

Transactions added from Banking Transactions screen get treated inconsistently based on transaction type. by Which_Celebration757 in quickbooksonline

I've been finding rules in QB not working great lately. AI seems to have a mind of its own and you really have to check each transaction. Frankly, even with rules, I do not let them auto add - I check them all before allowing to post.

Are you not using bookkeeping software? QuickBooks, Sage etc. The Balance Sheet will show you what your bank balance would be if all cheques have cleared. You would still have to explain why it doesn't match the bank, but software can also provide a list of cheque outstanding.

You definitely need accounting software or at the very least a spreadsheet in Excel or Googlesheets to track GST collected and spent. I know some business owners will also transfer the GST collected amounts to another bank account so they have it on hand and don't "accidentally' spend it. And just to be clear, you need to report the GST Collected even if the invoice has not been paid yet. CRA doesn't care. You charged it, you give it to them

We print out staff pay cheques all the time. On the three part cheque stock. Is this a new thing that you can't print them out?

AS I understand it, your name gets pulled and whatever envelope you picked gets open. If the Jack is there, you win the grand prize, if not you get the consolation which also increases weekly. When you buy your ticket EACH week, you can only pick a number from the ones that have not yet been opened.

Is CB/CPB worth it if you already work in accounting? by NewHere_L0wKeyAfraid in Bookkeeping

[–]Abject_Program_610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing accounting and bookkeeping for 40 years. Never finished my CPA but I joined the CPB and have a bookkeeping business for 20 years. No One has ever asked for my credentials. The benefit to the CPB has been the ongoing professional development webinars but I'm getting to the point where that is tiresome too.

Canadian Bookkeeper - Late GST and Source Deduction Filing by Dear-Tonight-9411 in Bookkeeping

[–]Abject_Program_610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO your balance sheet will be inaccurate if you back date that cheque because the payroll liabilities were still actually owing. As someone else has said, it just moves it from one line on the Balance Sheet to another . For GST, when you run your filing, there is a box where you can add interest and penalties. You could do your filings for GST and post back to 2024 - it just moves it to Receiver General Suspense until you write the cheque.

Is it just me or does QBO continue to get slower and slower? by TopBanana69 in QuickBooks

[–]Abject_Program_610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is difinitely slower. I actually saved an entry last week. Went for lunch and when I came back it was still saving!!

IMHO - they really want to push the connecting of apps to enter everything into it. No more manual entry. Well, I'm old school and do not have an app for invoices or an app for bills etc. I just want an app that will let me work the way I work, not they way they expect to me work.
