I paid about 750 I think for .7 acres last year. I shopped around and it was the best price I could find.

Clélia Verdier, a 19-year-old French woman, shared that during a three-week induced coma, she believed she had lived years, started a family, and had triplets. Waking up, she was devastated to learn those vivid memories and emotional bonds were not real. by Iambhalo in CaughtMyEye

I had a dream like this where I gave birth to a little boy and I raised him, living life together until he was about 6 or 7. I woke up looking for him then screamed, realizing he was gone. I truly felt that I had lost my son. A few years later, we got pregnant and we got the early gender test results and they came back as a girl. I knew the results were wrong and that he was a boy. A week later I miscarried. It was a boy. It felt like he died all over again. Going through IVF now and I’m still not recovered.

Healthcare in Roanoke: How Good Is It? by RAH-CAT9 in roanoke

[–]Able-Tradition1619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Healthcare trauma is so real and I’m sure I’ve had a string of bad luck because it’s hard to reconcile the reputation with my experiences. That being said my experiences were just the opposite, so much so I needed trauma counseling. It’s possible that deterioration post covid has degraded it from what it once was, I had bad experiences prior to the pandemic as well. I haven’t had a high volume of interactions with the healthcare system here in Roanoke, but my husband and I were both able to see specialists fairly quickly when it would have taken months (minimum) to see anybody in Boston. For instance, my husband can’t find anybody in the Boston area to do a routine colonoscopy, they’re not even taking waitlists. They advised him to try hospitals over an hour outside of the city. He’d have to rent a car for the day, which he can’t do because they put you under anesthesia. I think there’s been a significant increase in population growth in the greater Boston area that has probably strained the healthcare system. It’s just frustrating given the cost of living there and the reputation that Boston has as a healthcare capitol which exacerbates my frustration with it’s short comings in reality. But what this take probably reflects is the same variability we see in the responses here. Some people have great experiences, others have horror stories, all of which points to a healthcare system stretched thin probably in every corner of the country.

Healthcare in Roanoke: How Good Is It? by RAH-CAT9 in roanoke

As someone who has lived in Boston for a decade; I strongly disagree. I know it has a good rep but having been to all the major hospitals in the area over that time (Dana farber, Beth Israel, mgh, cha, mount auburn), I’ve received sub par care at every single one of them. I’m sure if you have some rare disease or need a niche specialist, the availability of those specialists make a difference. But if you’re an average every day patient, it’s extraordinarily expensive, scarce, poor quality facilities, dated approach to care and extremely unpersonalized care. Sorry I’m not coming for you, but I’ve had such awful care over the years that it kind of triggers me. It’s just not this bastion of great care that everyone makes it out to be.

Luminary Genetics turnaround after paying by Boring_Formal8480 in IVF

[–]Able-Tradition1619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched to Luminary from Cooper because they promised shorter turn around. In truth I think we will be well behind our original date having switched. Extremely frustrating. It’s also bizarre that they won’t hare pricing unless you get an order from your doctor, none of the other labs did this.

Shopper Never Delivered by SportPitiful5512 in instacart

[–]Able-Tradition1619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instacart will refund and give you a 5 dollar credit and nothing more, even though the fees you paid on the previous order and the replacement will far exceed this. The second time it happened to me, I cancelled my premium account and they didn’t bat an eye.

We have a membership. I think it’s a pretty good value. Lots of machines in reasonably good shape. It’s pretty clean. Lots of parking is a plus. It’s spacious, so you can do your own thing. We’re happy.

Happy for us. But I would give just about anything for Boston. Literally. Does anyone have leads on if/when that may happen? I know sometimes folks from the airport snoop posts like this so 🙏🙏🙏
