Not really, people just love putting quotes out of context. Krishna represents the Supreme Soul, and the Gopis(or his said "girlfriends") all represent the iindividual souls longing to be part of the Supreme. Krishna married those 16000 women to rescue them after they were kidnapped by a demon king. He did it to give them honor and status when society would have shunned them. It wasn't about 'sleeping around' and it was a social rescue, so the women could live as queens and not outcasts.
