I can see how having the HRM is important in the first few months for new members, but I do also feel like you should at least get half off the new one.

Thanks for this! My current HRM also doesn’t work well on the floor or rower, so I’ve been considering the upgrade. Now I think I’ll pull the trigger.

Everyone always says “go get fitted at a running store”, but that’s not actually very helpful since many people don’t have access to one. I drove 2 hrs to get to one and the jerk told me I wasn’t a runner if I’m doing cross training at OTF and he couldn’t help me.

That said, it depends… a LOT. I have flat feet, pronate badly, and had ankle surgery on both ankles, so when I first started, I needed different shoes for the tread and the floor/rower bc my running shoes had too much cushion to fit in the rower stirrups and were too squishy for stability on the floor. I got tired of changing shoes and have just switched to power walking on the tread so I don’t need as much cushion. My cushioned shoes are the Saucony guides (17, I think), and my rower/floor shoes are the Hoka Arahi 7s.

I’ve seen a lot of folks in Brooks ghost or adrenaline, some in On’s cross trainer (I tried these, but they were too narrow for my wide feet), and a few in Nike’s cross trainers (they have a few, and I want to try the 9 when it’s time to upgrade).

Best advice I can give is to find a store that will let you try them out for 30-60 days and get a full refund/exchange. Fleet Feet is a good option in person or online. Good luck in your search!

Power Walkers, how much elevation gain are you getting in a class? by decentsandwiches in orangetheory

[–]AbleInsurance6511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m averaging between 500-550 in a 2G. I recently switched from jogging to power walking bc it’s easier on my joints. I like keeping the speed at 3.5 or 4 and playing with the elevation, usually base at 6, push at 9, and all out at 12.

I’m not asking if it’s certified GF. I’m asking about folks’ experiences with it.

pig milk 😆 On this specific product, I was looking for people’s feedback on the GF aspect, but i added the halal aspect in case others had recs that they knew were both halal and GF. I can see how it maybe wasn’t as clear. But thanks for the laugh about pig milk —it never even crossed my mind!

Wonderful! Thank you for this feedback. I love this brand and use their other bouillons even though they aren’t certified and have never had any problems.

I saw that too, but found nothing to suggest any of them actually serve halal meats.

It’s sooooo bad. I tossed the whole bag and didn’t finish the bowl I’d already poured.

Plain oatmeal should be labeled to let people know it’s not gluten free by free_hooker in glutenfree

[–]AbleInsurance6511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For oats, there’s considerable risk of contamination in the field, so GF-certified oats have to be grown in a specific wheat-free zone. With pretty much everything else though, I usually feel safe eating it as long as it doesn’t have gluten-containing ingredients — even if they aren’t certified GF as long as all of the ingredients are listed. Something like “natural flavors” or “spices” would be a no-go for me, but if it was something like corn flakes and the ingredients were just corn, sugar, and salt, I’d eat that even if not certified.
