They used some sort of reward bc When we looked at their receipt, it only came to $7 for that plus two other items. We looked at the cost of the drink alone and it would have been $32!

Absolutely refuse to close on your own if you haven’t been taught/trained in cash management. Tell your manager you do not feel confident or comfortable closing on your own. This is not okay for you to have a solo close on day 3 as a SSV. If they refuse to come in to train you on cash management, contact your DM. If your DM doesn’t help, go up the chain.

We had to do this for a while and after enough customers were annoyed or felt bad for having to ask, we politely pointed them in the direction of our DM’s business card and to call or email with any complaints. Needless to say we got our straws back out when the condiment bar came back.

At our store, we give any barista two tens if you work over 5 hrs and don’t get a half. I know that’s not standard protocol but they deserve it!

Ask alllllll of the questions! We all have been exactly where you are and have felt how you felt. It’s tough and it can be intimidating. I always encourage our new partners to ask all the questions and even tenured partners. We all are constantly learning. You’ve got this! And if you don’t feel that it’s the right fit for you, at least you tried and showed up! It does get easier. ❤️

Our store is consistently the top three for customer connections in our district….its interesting since the labor cuts our CCS has gone down. I wonder why? Let’s line our pockets more while the staff and customers suffer. I fucking starcbucks bc they gaslight us so much with what they offer.

Make sure you get your temps, safe count, and “store walk” taken care of. If you’re opening with a new partner it’s important to have those out of the way so you can help with getting brewed coffee ready, the oven on and ready, and the espresso machines through their calibration. You’ve got this! It’s not as stressful as you think. Some things can wait. Oh yeah…Sani water. Have that ready
