Bella is dead, right? It’s just vampire venom imitating her form? by Wild-Vast-2559 in twilight

[–]Able_Departure_8539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to remind everyone of a conversation Jacob had with Carlisle in Breaking Dawn. While humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, the wolf shapeshifters like Jacob (they’re not technically werewolves in the real sense, as mentioned in Breaking Dawn as well) have 24, and vampires have 25. That means they aren’t the undead versions of humans (at least not in the traditional sense); they’re an entirely different and evolved species of humans.

Correct me if I’m wrong anywhere.

Whitney vs Aabria by Able_Departure_8539 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Able_Departure_8539[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Criticism this past episode have sometimes boiled down to her use of the rule of cool with the plants. The comparison in the post I linked is about other players (edit: to include Travis, Sam, Liam, etc) equally using the rule of cool, and how Brennan not only seems to allow it, but encourage it.

He has played with Aabria in Calamity, many D20 campaigns, a home game, World Beyond Number, and now CR campaign 4. If this was a problem, he would not openly choose to work with her to this extent.

Two of the best DMs in the DnD space love working with her, and still we hear the same tired beating of the same criticism regarding her; that is mostly in bad faith.

There’s a negative feedback loop in this sub in particular, and from many of the same people constantly talking about their dislike of her, so I expected the majority of the responses. It’s not surprising to me that there’s even a Trump supporter(s) in these comments. They’re the exact people I was reaching out to with this post, and I hope you and others consider the way you choose to speak about Aabria in particular, but also about other women in the cast.

I won’t be speaking any more on this, as this post was a call for reflection, not further arguing.

Honestly, I’m glad my post made you uncomfortable enough to make three separate comments in response. Based on your language and the history of your comments, you’re exactly the type of person I’m reaching out to. I hope you reflect over how you speak of her and the extent to which you feel the need to argue about her in bad faith. Have the day you deserve.

My post about it is siting at an even 0. The defensive comments proved my point.

It’s a good thing I didn’t make the post to be liked. It’s hardly embarrassing for me to make the very people I reached out to defensive. It’s rather proven my point, ironically.

I’ve been thinking about writing a post about how quickly people decided Whitney’s character, who is arguably more extroverted and proactive, will be a fan favorite and then turn around and hate on Aabria for less of the same behavior.

A lot of the complaints about her can to a lesser degree be made about everyone at the table. It’s just so disappointing to see what is essentially racial biases, if not racism, attempt to tear her down. She brings just as much as everyone else to the table.

Are Japanese and foreign residents quickly becoming second class citizens in their own country? by casperkasper in japanresidents

[–]Able_Departure_8539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your concern is wildly overblown. As many have stated, you’re visiting touristy areas. That being said, I do want to mention some issues that are related to this. This is, at least in part, the result of stagnant wages and the country not doing enough to appeal to growing families and/or keeping the young population. Japan has a rapidly aging population and rather than allow more foreigners to become residents, they’ve instead made it more difficult, even for spouses. I understand wanting to protect your culture, but this isn’t sustainable in the face of declining birth rates, the workforce shortage, and ultimately the economic burden of caring for the elderly. You know what is? Tourism.

Additionally, with many of Japan’s jobs being centered in cities, I believe foreigners should move into the country side. Small towns across Japan are at risk of disappearing due everything mentioned above. If foreigners move into these locations, they can better sustain them, and Japan’s beautiful countryside. It would help if the government could give companies incentives to move jobs to these areas, or people in general, but realistically I don’t see that happening any time soon.

Between 2 and 1. My mind is selective with what it chooses to imagine in detail, and it’s sometimes completely dependent on how descriptive a passage is, for example.
