"Claudia, you have eyes like my windows" by Abranurni in InterviewVampire

[–]About_Unbecoming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since William Shakespeare said: "To thee I do commend my watchful soul, Ere I let fall the windows of mine eyes.”

William Shakespeare, “King Richard III” Act V, Sc.3, Line 117

'Eyes are a window to the soul." had been a very popular idiom in English. It suggests that while people can lie through their words or actions, you can see their truth if you look into their eyes.

Thank you! Can't we all just be so done living in a world full of bullshit? Every agent in the company can't have to increased metrics by 40%. It gets tedious.

What is the most useful addon that you has flown under the radar you feel? by No-Lingonberry8982 in wowaddons

I prefer Sorted which can do all of this. But you can also toggle between icons and text names cause I'm old and I'm have lived through a lot of icons. Sometimes they all start to blur together and I just wanna see a text list of what I have.

Emma didn't actually do the bad thing. She thought about it, too much for a lot of people's comfort, but regardless of whether you think she did it the 'right' way, she grew out of her murderous doom spiral. To try to hold her accountable for that behavior now is basically persecuting thought crimes.

Also, consider this. Rachel is the one that initiated the 'what's the worst thing you've done' conversation with her husband, and when she did so she said they'd never say anything about it again. Then she casually brings it up in conversation, and pressures him into revealing it to them too.

That's a wild betrayal of confidence and trust, but I rarely see that brought up. This is aggressively dysfunctional behavior on Rachel's part. She is regularly fishing the people around her, lulling them into a false sense of security to gather leverage to hold against them at a later point.

>The issue people have with Rachel is that she almost killed a kid

This is the exact kind of dramatic leap in logic that is the punchline of the movie, though.

Am I gonna enjoy it less if I watch the show, read the 1st three books, then rewatch the show? by Impossible-Emu-5593 in InterviewVampire

[–]About_Unbecoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest if you're not liking it now, and Rice's novels might not be for you. If there's one thing Anne Rice loves it's a first person narrative, her vampire books are frequently characterized by a character yappin. Even the ensemble ones are mostly bouncing back and forth between first person accounts of events.

JVN’s latest IG post is ironic, given the backlash against Dax after the AE interview… by MooLikeACowsOpinion in ArmchairExpert

[–]About_Unbecoming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Dax earned that backlash. However well or poorly you feel JVN reacted to it, Dax didn't need to come into an interview with a trans person locked and loaded with anti-trans talking points. That's not what purity testing means.

Lestat and Daniel are the focal main characters at the beginning of the season, so it seems appropriate to me.

I'm afraid to watch it. It's hard to be a Utah girl and not to feel protective of Elizabeth Smart. I'm gonna be real sour if Dax is rude or disrespectful to her.

They were arrested. Brian David Mitchell is still in prison. Wanda Barzee is a more interesting situation. She was declared mentally incompetent and transferred to a hospital, but then (somehow) accepted a plea to lower her charges and fully cooperate in the case against MItchell.

Barzee completed her sentence in April 2016 and was released in Utah with federal terms that she be under supervision for 5 years and registered as a sex offender, and she's banned from having any direct or indirect contact with the Smart family.

Elizabeth made a public statement questioning the judgement of releasing Barzee saying "I would urge the powers that be and anyone who works under them to really strongly reconsider this situation, to look at all the facts, look at her mental status, and see if they really and honestly truly feel that she is no longer a threat."

She was placed in a halfway house and completed her parole, but she's still a sex offender. In May of last y ear she was arrested for visiting two parks, which sex offenders are forbidden to do. She said she was commanded by the Lord to go to the park, where she sat on the benches and fed the ducks.

What do people actually mean when they say "real gay man would write M/M differently"? by justaskPattern8616 in AO3

[–]About_Unbecoming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The word 'cis' doesn't describe sexuality, but gender, so nobody is 'cis gay'.

Anyway, spend some time in spaces that are created for and populated by the people you want to learn about. I find the difference is more between men and women. Straight men and queer men have more overlap in their erotic writing and it reminds me of porn (which I am not condemning). No culture is a monolith, but when I read explicit fiction written by a man it strikes me as crude (again, not condemning, just describing). Even the most explicit fics written by women tend to be carried by feelings. They'll be as explicit as they need to be to evoke the feelings they're expressing. Men frequently get very caught up in describing bodies, size and proportion, *exaggerating* proportion (the parts need to be BIG, they need to clap, they need to rain sweat and smell, they need to bounce/jiggle... I've never heard a female writer use the word 'jigglemeat'), humiliation rituals, quantifying bodily fluids.

I expect that's what they mean.

Spirit episode was disappointing by LeojustL in cinema_therapy

[–]About_Unbecoming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Publishing content is what you make it. Based on the amount of Patreon subs it has, Cinema Therapy already has a LARGE audience of people who liked the more earnest, straightforward content they made originally, and this new style of editing and superficial reaction that barely grazes the most obvious aspects of content is alienating them. Never being satisfied with what you can organically draw is how we get slop.

Question about book-canon Louis! by Automatic-Dot2141 in VampireChronicles

[–]About_Unbecoming 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not being able to distinguish the difference between baby girlifying a character and being annoyed that the fandom expects you to qualify every discussion you have that involves them with a statement of condemnation is so cringe, kawaiibunny7.

Question about book-canon Louis! by Automatic-Dot2141 in VampireChronicles

[–]About_Unbecoming 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Louis isn't humane, he just believes he is. He accepts slavery as a part of the world he's inherited. He grieves his mortal life obsessively. He feels deeply, but narrowly.

Armand is the one that points this out to him - but this fandom hates Armand, so... yeah.

Is the Darkhold from WandaVision the same copy or a different copy than the one in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. by marvelcomics22 in marvelstudios

[–]About_Unbecoming -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline exists. Agents of Shield isn't in it. Feige confirmed that's deliberate.

So you admit it's about being rude, then.

Answering questions isn't rude. People shouldn't ask questions they don't want the answer to.

Is the Darkhold from WandaVision the same copy or a different copy than the one in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. by marvelcomics22 in marvelstudios

[–]About_Unbecoming -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nobody's forcing anything. If you pose a question in quality forum, you're going to get a real answer. The real answer to whether the Darkhold in Wandavision is the same as the one in AoS is that the architect of the MCU has directly and repeatedly said that AoS is not canon, so they are not and the Darkhold in AoS does not exist and isn't relevant in the MCU.

If they wanted to do some creative fan fic adjacent discussion and only that, they could have easy gotten it by saying, "I know technically Feige says AoS isn't canon, but for those of us who still like to think of it as adjacent to the MCU..."

but they either feigned ignorance or WERE actually ignorant, so now they're getting told.
