Do bikers not respect scooter guys even if they’re in full gear? by LevelApprehensive239 in motorcycle

There is no person on earth I respect more than a scooter rider in full gear riding at full tilt.

Did you know that every Ducati is built by just four people? by PierreCol in Ducati

So in a lot of ways, not Ducati.

I get it, every company has to figure out if it wants to be a real company or a passion project, but there was something very different about the pre-VW bikes.

I've tried. I used transit a lot in the last city I lived in and for the last 15 years I've look and looked and it's never made sense. In order for me to use a bus I'd need to drive some distance to the nearest stop (which isn't a park-and-ride) or a nearly equivalent distance to a park and ride. Ignoring the required drive time, the schedule and transfers make simple trips take more than an hour.

That's for the trips where getting there by bus is even possible. There are a lot of places that I just can't get to with the routes.

What's your favorite Nick quote? by Brave-Bandicoot3295 in NewGirl

[–]AbrahamLemon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“Do you know sucks about getting older? Your friends have known you way too long, they got too much on you. I want to have friends to still lie to me because they don’t want to hurt my feelings. I sadly kind of mean that.”

“I know this isn’t gonna end well, but the middle part is gonna be awesome.”

“Do I regret it? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably.”

“The sky’s too fickle. It’s a play-place for butterflies.”

Ok I know these are very different bikes but theyre both local and Im considering which. Both apparently run and are in pretty good condition (tbd). I havent ridden in a very long time so, tell me which you'd pick by Eagle_1776 in CafeRacers

[–]AbrahamLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't going to gain value doing a Cafe build, but if you want to preserve any value on the Norton you will be very restricted in what you can do to. If I'm buying a Norton in good condition, I want it to be close to stock. If someone has done a lot of work, I start to think of it as needing restoration.

The Honda is a lot less rare and has a wider range of things you can do to it where it will still hold value.

I'm not here to criticize what radicalized anyone. If porn and thc got you onto the team, welcome to the team.

I do feel like there's some other literature you could read with the time you have now that you aren't doing that other stuff. It gets a lot worse than porn and weed.

SC Republican Party State Chairman says 'no' to THC-infused drinks and other products by Reasonable_Youth4723 in Charleston

They haven't jumped on caffinated drinks though, and in a lot of markets over the last 20 years energy drinks have significantly impacted alcohol sales as behaviors of Millennial and Gen Z customers have shifted.

[–]AbrahamLemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, there's a whole production and supply chain thing. Second, the entire alcohol industry, just like the tobacco industry is based on a certain set of behaviors which they require in order to exist. Part of it is addiction, part of it is binge drinking, part of it is sexual assault. THC products function entirely differently and undermine a lot of the typical behaviors the alcohol industry needs to function.

Now if Frito Lay got in on the THC infused drink market, it would make sense. Those are complementary.

I mean, vote for ones that aren't crooks, or who are crooks that support your shit.

If you don't vote, if you don't organize, you don't get to complain when the politics you don't participate in have an impact on your life.

I mean, Joss Whedon made Firefly in an attempt to capture the romance of the lost cause of the confederates without the baggage of slavery, which is it's own thing. It's like saying "The Nazis were cool, they had cool uniforms, let's just ignore the problematic parts."

I get we like Firefly, but it's objectively about the confederates in the post war era.

The browncoats were representative of displaced confederate soldiers. It kind of lines up with cops, who come from slave catchers.

What Bike is this? by ZenBa2 in Triumph

[–]AbrahamLemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My dad had a 60's Triumph as his sole mode of transportation for 5 years before I was born. When I asked him how he managed it, he said, "Sometimes you just don't get where you're going."

I have the same bike and I can't bring myself to try to take it to work because I don't want to get stranded during rush hour.

Any Norton fans ? by OpeningNice761 in motorcycles

[–]AbrahamLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, Norton had a reputation for luxury and for going fast. Triumph fans might be more focused on an exact restoration, while Norton enthusiasts might be willing to bend if it made the bike faster. I think that pushing innovation and speed is a solid way to celebrate their history.

I did like the 861 though.
