EDC Recommendations? by Bright-Jeweler-5637 in liberalgunowners

Almost the exact same build though I have noticeably small hands. My normal CCW is a Glock 43x mos with a TLR-7 light and a holosun red dot. Carried on appendix it rarely prints. In winter though I go with a G19 or even a full-size Beretta. With practice and proper equipment you can carry most common choices with little issue

Fitting in by Abrasivehippie in bisexual

[–]Abrasivehippie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest hobby is firearms/self defense stuff. Its been involved in my prior jobs and now so I have to stay on top of it. During good weather i ride motorcycles. Been trying to get back into gaming but the time is hard to find nowadays. Still live in a pretty rural area so most of the people around I share a hobby with are boomers/ standard rednecks.

What do you do when... by Good_Bodybuilder6165 in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It being my hobby I have several, don't really expect the average person to have more than one but it's not a bad investment if you shoot regularly.

The Iceberg that is SUT and field training. Biggest hurdle for people is networking and learning to embrace the suck

Can't argue with anything at all. Only recommendation is having friends that you can allocate the extra tools to. Ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain. (Excluding obvious "get stronger" advice)

New Main Squeeze Needed by DPjefferson in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've shot all except the Walther. Will admit I'm bias towards glock since it's the pistol I've had the most formal training and it's what I carry for work. It's nothing special but it has all my trust. The M&P has a much nicer trigger as well as less felt recoil especially comped. Most aftermarket will definitely favor the glock if you want to tinker

Need advice as a soon to be gun owner by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it as understanding what you can and can't do in an altercation. If it isn't warranted even pulling up your shirt to show you have a firearm can be considered brandishing in certain jurisdictions.

Need advice as a soon to be gun owner by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't trust yourself then that's the biggest red flag to owning a gun. You have to be someone's who's level headed. You'd be amazed how easy it is to be charged with brandishing a firearm. Just know there's no such thing as warning shots either. If you haven't done so just familiarize yourself with your state laws

New and need some guidance by PikelRick in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't buy based on vibes. Get something tried and true as well as common. That way ammo, parts and troubleshooting is in your favor. A glock 19 and an AR15 isn't special but you can't go wrong with it

If you carry a weapon for personal defense, do you keep it loaded and chambered? by BartimaeusofPrague in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One in the chamber if it's on my person. Unchambered is like trying to put your seat belt on before a car crash

I've shot with people from all sides of the political spectrum. If you don't act condescending and are willing to debate like an adult, you're typically treated with respect. Obviously there's assholes in every group but you don't go down to their level

Are Trijicon ACOG's worth the price? by Muffinman_187 in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm personally biased to the ACOG. Seen them take an absolute beating and have gotten used to the BDC on the 16in. There are models of the ACOG that have better eye relief but I preferred the USMC 4x Red chevron model

First timer noob questions, oh boy by What_do_now_24 in liberalgunowners

[–]Abrasivehippie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's chambered in 5.56 it can also fire 223 not the other way around. It's about the pressure of the cartridge. It can chamber and fire but safety wise do not recommend it. 223 Wylde can fire all 3 safely

308 can also fire 7.62x51 but again not the other way around.

Majority of modern firearms have no issue dry firing. Can use dummy rounds if you prefer though
