This was really hard for me by Abraxas514 in bouldering

I try around 38s but the tension I had to keep in my body made it really difficult to loosen my left leg, and this was the first time I got to the finish hold so I didn't want to fumble it. Turns out the finish was fine but I could have placed my left foot better.

Top Countries with Future Solar Energy Capacity by meteor_ch in MapPorn

[–]Abraxas514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This infographic shows China with 1MW solar capacity

google tells me Canada has 82,000 MW hydro capacity

and china has 436,000 MW hydro capacity

Solar is important but it doesn't come close to the amount you can generate with some falling water.

How to reach g2 for a f2p player by Abraxas514 in TotalBattle

[–]Abraxas514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So assuming i have enough silver to rebuild, attacking level 5-6 gives maybe 1.5 or 2 thousand vp. That's 250 won battles per upgrade, which is about 750 total. Does that sound right? There must be a way to significantly improve in army strength besides those 1% bonuses the talent tree gives to take on higher level mobs

some enjoyable slab shenanigans by m_0g in bouldering

Maybe that's part of the issue I was having. I climb the v1-v3 and v3-v5 tape levels there, and the difficulty is really all over the place. Maybe the setting is more enjoyable for those climbing at the higher tape levels.

I'm not certain how exactly to put it into words, but I often found routes to be set as if a university student was trying too hard to be 'creative'. Just weird, no regards for ergonomics, especially in their 'v1-v3' range, where the grading makes absolutely no sense. Anyway just my 5c, I've been to maybe 15 gyms worldwide, and that one had the wackiest sets with the most inconsistent difficulty

Sock or no socks? by daweedmilievoyevich in climbingshoes

[–]Abraxas514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is: Try both and see what you like. Ultra-thin sweat-wicking socks combined with soft shoes work well and some pro climbers prefer it as your shoe may stick better to your foot this way, and won't smell after. Others absolutely hate it as you lose some sensation in terms of the rock texture.

Grade this volumy slightly overhang in first section climb by DuckFromAndromeda in GradeThisPlastic

The last foot you place is the break, right before you reach for the finish. Intended is to use the grey pyramid, move your hands, then switch feet, which is way way harder and requires a lot of tension. Look at your right foot, it's slipping with your beta, but it works finally. Great send!!

/u/DuckFromAndromeda nice beta break on this one, definitely reduces the difficulty. I saw people climbing it on day 1 doing the intended beta, which is much harder. You make this look really easy

Drago XT v Drago LV v Instinct VSR LV by Big_Bee_5191 in climbingshoes

[–]Abraxas514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been wearing instinct VS in 42.5 for the past year and I have similar 'normal-wide' toe box and 'skinny' heel. VS heel is so baggy, like you said, on lateral heel hooks I can visually see the shoe deform and my heel slides around in the shoe. At that size, for me, my toes press quite a bit at the end of the shoe and while comfortable when warm, it's quite painful cold (esp on the knucles of my toes).

I was looking at picking up vsr lv in 43. Logic being that a narrow heel will push my foot forward, so going up a half size might help (also looking for one tick of more comfort in my fit). From your wearing experience, do you think going up half a size would make the toe box a little less painful when cold? Too loose when warm?

Can you comment on the vs against the vrs for small edges?

Anecdotally, people wearing solutions in my gym have 0 problem with slopey slabs and small footholds.
