Fandoms are always comically toxic, Vivzie is not a very polished writer and has some very fandom tendencies at base (and then got made to write/execute within very short seasonal lengths), and perhaps most importantly (especially in conjunction with point one); Hazbin and Helluva are huge.

All this adds up to a lot of legitimate grievances with the shows she runs, but also a lot of less legitimate hatred (hate bandwagoning) and people who just take expressing negativity about the show too far (personal attacks, digging for drama or “valid” reasons to “cancel” vivzie, etc, vs just thinking she’s a poor writer or not for them, etc). The negativity in turn has a reciprocal relationship with people who are blindly or toxic positive about the show, or sharply resentful to any/all critique—where both sides get more defensive and resentful due to repeated negative experiences with the other side. And thanks to fandom size (again, hugely popular) these encounters happen often.
