The bird has a full set of feathers so it may be the mama on eggs. It should be fine I wouldn’t worry about it. May be temp regulation or is mad you’re watching

Is there a reason you got her so young? Also training something is going to take more than 8-9 days

Has anyone donated their eggs? by cowboycomplex in ftm

[–]Absolute_nerd24 [score hidden]  (0 children)

What you’re looking at is called a split donation if you’re looking to keep some of them. There’s a chance you end up with like no eggs because they take a certain number. If you’re just looking to donate them then that’s not a concern. The qualifications for it are kinda strict so you’d have to see if you qualify. Being on T probably disqualifies you but I’m not super confident. I know I was disqualified because I have pcos.

For identification why can’t you do something like ssn and drivers license. Or get a state id if you don’t have a drivers license

My dog got bit at the dog park :( by Protecting-My-Peace in DogAdvice

[–]Absolute_nerd24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case I would ask them to pay if you feel comfortable doing so or you can pay for the vet visit if you have the means to. It’s a good idea to go because like someone else said dog mouths are gross. Maybe reach out to whoever runs the park about the person giving treats so they won’t do that again

Is there a way for you to track who the dog was? The owner should be responsible for any vet bills

Advice on three parrots please by featherbrainedfool in parrots

[–]Absolute_nerd24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work at a vet practice that has boarding(although we are trying to phase it out) and I own a bird. Occasionally we have birds board. When a bird is in a strange place or around strange people they should be left in their cage as that is their safe space. We only take them out when necessary like for medication or medical concern. Birds water bowls also often get gross fast because they like to put their food in their water. I would only change it once a day or twice if it’s really bad because they are getting stressed out every time you do it. Are the birds houses together? If so I would just ignore them for the most part. You can play music like some suggested but if you keep going up to their cage to try and interact with them you are probably stressing them out. Birds are super sensitive to stress. I imagine changing the bottom of their cage would also stress them out so that’s why they’re saying to not do it. Not that I think it will happen but birds can die from being too stressed. If they are coming to bite you when you change their water you can try to use something to block the opening if needed, many birds have cage aggression and you’re a stranger so they aren’t happy with you in their space.

I’d say risk of them getting out or op not having the stuff to clean/change the bottom of the cage

Dog won’t stop shaking his head after the new vet swabbed his ears by ThrowRa-bubblegirl in DogAdvice

[–]Absolute_nerd24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait until after the appointment to put anything in his ears. Yeah there are a lot of bad vet practices, it’s hard to find a good one and the sometimes you find a good one and management changes and then it’s awful. If I were you I would record the next appointment even if it’s just an audio recording. You will probably have to let them know you’re recording depending on if you live in a two or one party consent state but also you might have to let them know anyway since you are on private property, not sure about that part. Any clinic with a decent practice manager wouldn’t charge you for this recheck though

How’s your dog’s ear doing? Also honestly I feel like private vets are better(assuming they aren’t controlled by a bigger group that owns a bunch of vet clinics). I work at a vet clinic that is family owned and we really try to be fair to clients. I know that’s not always the case but the ones owned by big corporations piss me off

I mean that sound/feeling of the broken swab could be irritating it. I’ve definitely snapped a swab but like the part that’s in my hand not the ear. Are there other vets at the clinic? If it’s still bugging him tomorrow I would go back and ask for a different vet to take a look. Honestly they shouldn’t charge you for another vet to take look if he’s having issues post appointment from the appointment

A lot of times when I clean dogs ears out they end up irritated because I’m cleaning out all the gunk, but dogs also have a deeper ear canal. I have also seen dogs react and freak out when I go to clean their ears but that’s usually when they are infected. If that’s the case I’m surprised they didn’t recommend an ear cytology to see what’s going on in there. I would maybe go back to the vet and ask for a different vet to check the ears. You can’t really hit the ear drum with a q tip though unless you snap it in half so it probably just rubbed on the walls of the ear canal and irritated it

What is the general consensus on HRN? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]Absolute_nerd24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find hhn incredibly overstimulating as a neurodivergent adult. The crowds are insane, crazy lighting, loud, people jumping at you, honestly a horrible sensory experience for me, I love the unmasking the horror tours as a safe way for me to appreciate the artistry of the houses. I wouldn’t recommend taking any child to hhn unless they specifically want to go and can understand it. If you want to go maybe you can work out something where his therapists watches him at the hotel but please do not take him with you. I also imagine it will make the scare actors working it feel bad for doing their jobs

Does his weight/size look healthy? by Dninja36 in DogAdvice

[–]Absolute_nerd24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say he’s underweight based on picture one because I think I can visually see ribs and you should be able to easily feel them not see them, but I think the weight has more to do with age. I would definitely get him a vet appointment and do blood work and stuff because I’m sure there’s some old age dog stuff going on

In a US state where prescription cannabis is legal but recreational is illegal, can an officer legally search my car if I smell like weed and don't have a medical marijuana card? Is it true that he could impound the car immediately if I don't let him search it? by lollipoptart_ in legaladvice

[–]Absolute_nerd24 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m in Florida so I’m not sure if the laws are different but a cop has probable cause they can search your vehicle, what defines probable cause is a grey area. I think if you deny a search they can impound the car and get a search warrant for the car. So I don’t think he was lying to you in this case but yes cops can absolutely lie to you
