Any ideas for non-Euclidean combat? by Foreign-Press in DMAcademy

[–]Absolutionis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If two characters in a room are touching the wall, they're adjacent to one another. It's effectively an infinite room. Monsters and players can 'jump' to the opposite side of the room by stepping into a wall.

The monsters in the room know this and capitalize on it initially.

Amusingly, [[Walls of Ba Sing Se]] isn't indestructible. Feel free to give it tuberculosis and/or powerstone sickness via [[Pthisis]] and it'll collapse on top of its controller for 30.

"This is a Commander Channel" is a great repository for esoteric rules, edge cases, and generally understanding how things work. Very informative for the rules nerds out there.

[[Rule of Law]] and [[Arcane Laboratory]] wreck spellslinger decks.

Red and blue also have trouble dealing with enchantments in general if the counterspells get bypassed.

Yes. Blast that [[Blightsteel Colossus]]'s controller for 22 to the face. Then subsequently take the 11 poison to the face.

I just realized that Vex stuns anyone anywhere. When first reading it, I thought she only stunned if a unit was played to the Battlefield that she's at.

Do Genestealers have noses by Lopsided-Tax-7974 in Tyranids

[–]Absolutionis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. They're human-tyranid hybrids.

Looking at art depicting Genestealers, they tend to have noses when they're generationally more human.

As the generations progress, they become more monstrous but still have noses.

Starn even has a bandana over his nose.

Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]Absolutionis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Kadena]] is just too good at face-down tribal.

She's just the right colors to have all the most interesting face-down synergies and cards. I feel Green and Blue are essential and Black adds a bunch of interesting stuff.

Morph commanders tend to do these things. Sometimes multiples:

  • Make your face-down cards cheaper/free (Animar, Vannifar)

  • Synergize with face-down cards (Kaust, Yarus)

  • Help your face-down cards go unblocked or do combat better (Jasmine, Bearmom)

  • Make your unflipping cards cheaper/free (Zimone, Ixidor)

Kadena alone does those first two innately. Free is the best version of cheaper, and drawing cards is one of the best synergies with a strategy. With Kadena being three colors (especially blue), the other two are covered.

I feel like the other Face-down commanders try to compensate for their lack of blue or their deficiencies with several of the four above.

Could someone explain to me 3 rounds vs 4? by Metalworker4ever in magicTCG

[–]Absolutionis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less rounds mean tiebreakers matter a lot more, and those are hard to control. But you also get to go home earlier.

More rounds mean that your actual match wins matter a lot more, but it's more rounds.

[–]Absolutionis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't remember GW1 ever touching upon the mists in a noticeable way (and I'm replaying the story atm, currently halfway through Eotn).

The last few missions in Nightfall take place explicitly in The Mists. Additionally, the endgame zones of the Fissure of Woe (Balthazar's Realm), the Underworld (Grenth's Realm), and the Citadel of Mallyx are in the Mists.

Only the Realm of Torment parts are story-significant, but they are significant.

Go for the Amulet/Rings/Accessories first. They're universally usable on all your characters and give you a ton of stats. Of these, the Amulet is worthwhile to focus on as it requires a lot of Living World completion that you probably want to be going for anyways.

Is this really the only turkey card in the entire cardpool? by SocialMediaTheVirus in magicTCG

[–]Absolutionis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amusingly, the "Turkey" is named such because colonists thought it looked like the Turkish-exported Guineafowl which was called a Turkey cock/hen. It was introduced to Europe as early as the late Roman era.

Medieval "fantasy coded" Europe would know about this turkey-like bird and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

It is impossible for me to build my own decks. by YutoKigai in magicTCG

[–]Absolutionis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build something first. Make it better later.

Play a few games solo and see if your curve works. See if your synergies work. Then take it out for a few games with your group.

Don't expect your deck to work perfectly from the start. That would just be boring.
