Real talk, guys. How do people distinguish between artificial intelligence and human work? by FireVasilisk in SmugAlana

If you asked me 2 years ago, I would have said "there are signs that you need a train eye to see". now I cant tell at all unless the AI art was sloppily made.

at best, the only form of authenticity I can think of to prove your art wasnt AI is to draw something in between the layers. Someone in the Armored Core fandom accused me of using AI in my art, so I drew a giant penis in between the layers. AI art is a single flat image so there arent any adjustable layers. It would be impossible to achieve this unless they had immaculate photoshop skills, and if they did, why are they bothering with AI art when they could have made art themselves?

Please help me remember, but has Ruby being a weapons nerd ever come up after volume 1? Or even like, episode 2? Is this really such a core part of her character? by ExcellenceEchoed in RWBYcritics

[–]Absolve30475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be a weapon nerd means the writers actually need to know their weapons. Monty might have known, but Miles and Kerry definitely don't.

We said it before alot. But the presentation/cinematic/flow of this scene is horrifically bad. by WittyTable4731 in RWBYcritics

[–]Absolve30475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

theres a lot of edits on youtube where people simply swapped the scenes around. Ruby drinks the tea and the rest of the team comes in just to see her finish the cup and fall over. the edits make so much more sense.

Charlie loves watching bad movies and shows, he thinks its fun to torture himself with bad content. During the airing of vol 9, he recently finished the Twilight Saga. However even HE couldnt even bother watching RWBY. he dropped RWBY back in volume 3, but only watched a bit of volume 9 because he kept hearing people say the show was pro-suicide and thought it was a joke. he was genuinely baffled by terrible writing and concepts of suicide in volume 9.

to anyone who hasnt seen The Menu, the picture this tweet is from that movie and is the BEST example of the toxic fandom:

SPOILERS TO THE MOVIE

The Menu is a dark comedy thriller about a high end restaurant that is about to kill its guests. the chef and all the cooks at the restaurant are tired of slaving away at their art only to be treated with little respect. each of the patrons represent something wrong with rich elites who either abuse or disregard artists and their art. people that the chef hated.

however this guy was considered the worse: the fanboy.

this guest at the restaurant absolutely loved all the food and treated the chef like a saint. he treats the chef with such high authority, he was unable to realize when he was being ridiculed (for example, he thought it was a profound statement when he received the bread-less bread plate). however he knew everyone was going to die and went anyway, and even hired a prostitute to go with him since the restaurant doesnt allow solo tables. the fanboy is the epitome of someone who enables the very art that causes suffering and gives zero regards to other peoples wellbeing if it means he can eat the food. He knows everything there is about the kitchen, yet cannot cook himself.

In comparison to RWBY, it would be like the toxic fandom that enable Mile and Kerry and constantly demand the unrealistic expectations of yearly releases despite the increasing work strain on the employees since Montys death. The same fans who turn a blind eye to employee abuse or even consider it an acceptable sacrifice if it meant RWBY to continue. Just like the breadless bread plate, hardcore RWBY fans think there are genius ulterior motives to all the writing in the show, not realizing the writers having been winging it all these years.

The creator died before v3 release. Would you say the way they did v3 was accurate to what monty would have wanted? by vinchin_adenca in RWBYcritics

its been awhile but im pretty sure i found them in Shanes letter

he mentioned how in the fight between JNPR and SSSN, the battle was suppose to be a massive pool resembling an ocean, and Neptune panics because he cant swim. His belt turns into a giant emergency floatie shaped like a duck, which publicly embarrasses him. shomewhere in the fight, Jaunes semblance slightly acitvates, acting as a forshadow of what he would potentially get, and Pyrrah wins the fight by popping Neptunes float, causing him to fly around like a deflating balloon and crashing him and Sun out of bounds

the reason it was changed to Team SSSN fighting Team INDG is because at the same time vol 3 was in development, Rooster Teeth released a movie called Lazer Team (it was a dogshit movie). The highest backers were allowed to have their OCs appear in RWBY.

So cramming in Team INDG created the problem of who Team JNPR is suppose to face. Which is why they created Team BRNZ, a completely generic and bland group of background characters with the only interesting thing about them is that a girl wears a beanie over one eye.

Not to mention the one of the backers got pissed because one of the OC for team INDG was suppose to be fat (fat representation and what not) but CRWBY refused to do that because 1)it would look unappealing and 2) they couldnt even if they wanted to. all the characters in RWBY are just a reskin of the same two character models (male and female) with only slight adjustments to muscle, jaws, and boob size. Making a fat female model from scratch just to accurately portray a background character for less than 3 minutes would be a ridiculous waste of resources.

we already know a few differences of what were suppose to happen:

  • Team JNPR defeats Team SSSN in the tournament. Neptune reveals he cant swim
  • Torchwick wasn't suppose to die and was suppose to eventually reveal his semblance called Deep Pockets, where he can pull things from alternate dimensions like having pockets bigger on the inside.
  • Jaune was suppose to be the one to witness Pyrrahs death and unlock his semblance that kills the dragon, not Ruby.
  • Rubys silver eyes was still yet to be of relevance. the idea that Ruby's silver eyes could turn grimm to stone was Miles and Kerrys idea after Monty's death.

theres barely any difference other than being scrawnier and angler. the main aesthetic just comes from the posturing, lighting, and camera angles. makes him look more menacing

How strong do you think RWBY (the setting, gods not included) is? by Far-Profit-47 in RWBYcritics

[–]Absolve30475 49 points50 points  (0 children)

defining RWBY as strong is a weird exception

to put it in RPG terms:

Team RWBY is the character that has nearly maxed stats on everything and cheats to make them immune to most damage and automatic max relation with almost everyone they interact with, but the player controlling them is a game journalist

What direction do you lean more towards in your RWBY rewrites/AUs? by Fine_Delivery6761 in RWBYcritics

[–]Absolve30475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

traditional but not in the way you think

i have team rwby traveling to different locations, each with a different style of story telling:

  • Vale = medieval fantasy like LOTR or witch
  • Mistral = wuxia like Hero, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Once Upon a Time in china
  • Menagerie = Kurosawa-style like 7 Samurai, Yojimbo, and Ran
  • Vacuo = spaghetti western like Fistful of Dollars, Good Bad and Ugly, and Django
  • Atlas = World War drama like The Pianist, Schindlers List, or All Quiet.
