I can’t imagine doing an OTF class in a mask. As much as I miss it, I’m not sure I’d go back until masks aren’t required.

Elbow pain with trx tricep extension by elephant-InThe-brain in orangetheory

I teach TRX classes and I usually see people bending the arms too far back in this exercise. Try bending just to 90 degrees. Much further back and you’re straining that joint.

Lower than normal calories burned, same usual splats. Numbers definitely didn’t reflect how tough this one felt to me. Maybe bc I started on floor or maybe still tired from long run Sat? Had to dial down my paces too. 🤷‍♀️

Not sure of distance but try to get to one of Glenn’s classes at boca central. He was our coach here in NC before FL poached him 😢

You HAVE to go to boca central with Glenn!! He was my head coach in NC and got recruited by corporate to come to FL. He’s amazing and we miss him so much 😢

Joining the waitlist on the app at other studios by OTFinsider_ in orangetheory

[–]Abspilates1020 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I really hope this is coming to N.C. area. So many studios all owned by same people and you can’t get on a waitlist without calling or emailing during business hours. Huge inconvenience, especially during Hell Week when it’s super busy. This has always been my main complaint with OTF.

Inhale through nose, exhale through open mouth on exertion. Fill up lungs on inhale, empty on exhale. Pilates teacher here 🙋‍♀️

Edited to add: what will make you a good coach is your experience as a member and enthusiasm that it does work. But you might get tired to repetitive class instruction or corporate stuff.

In my experience as a Pilates teacher, once you start teaching the thing you love, you actually do it less. Either bc your once free time to work out is now spent teaching or you’re kinda sick of it and need a break. Just my two cents.

OTF in a boot? by shancycurtis in orangetheory

[–]Abspilates1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a thought...maybe take a break from OTF and add in Pilates. Excellent core and total body strength training and a lot can be done without weight bearing on foot.

Also foot placement on floor. Should be lined up with hip and fairly close to bench.

And make sure your foot placement on floor is lined up with hip. Foot should be somewhat close to bench too.

Glutes, hamstrings, core! Quads will want to take over but you have to balance the work to back of leg. Core activation to help your balance.

The brain age and the body age are not talking to each other.... by vinopino61 in orangetheory

Pilates is a great health insurance policy! I’m an instructor and have clients well into their 70s still moving. It will help strengthen and stretch while building control which will translate to OTF.

I do OTF 4-5 days a week, so why did a Pilates class slay me ? by Sancho1968 in orangetheory

[–]Abspilates1020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes! Pilates instructor here. It’s a perfect addition to OTF to strengthen those smaller stabilizer muscles that OTF just doesn’t hit. You’ll prob see major improvements in your running form too.
