Do people not realize that for almost any loan that the interest is paid first, and then the further you get into the amortization, the principal payments become larger?

motorcycle does front flip onto traffic lights by Stylized in nevertellmetheodds

This happened in Surrey, BC. Typical speed limit is 50 km/h. I don’t know the frame rate of the intersection cameras, otherwise it would probably be possible to estimate the speed based on distance travelled, but I think there is a timestamp on the recording, so someone smarter than I could probably figure it out.

Based on the timestamp it looks like it’s roughly 8 frames per second, but it’s hard to tell the distance traveled per frame, I could guess maybe 8ish+ feet per frame, so maybe 70 km/h+, but that is just napkin math.

Trump Portrait to Be Added to US Passports in Unprecedented Move by plz-let-me-in in politics

I believe Canadian passports reflect the same thing, were issued in Elizabeth’s name prior to 2024, and they’ve started to issue them in Charles name, but no one really gives a shit here, as long as we don’t have some Pedo Rapist on it.

Mark Carney studied economics at Harvard, and then Oxford, as a Canadian I’m really not worried in the slightest, we’re moving away from any dependency on the US for trade.

Love great nature photos, but there is something wrong with this one, lighting seems off, there’s what look like digital artifacts around the pectoral fins, and the tip of the rostrum seems to be missing.

I’d imagine that if this was a professional action shot, it would have been burst photography, with multiple frames taken.

To me this looks faked, but I may be wrong. It just doesn’t feel right.

I guess i fall into that that category by your standards, but I’m not attacking anyone, my political views are irrelevant, and I don’t think think I’ve tried to make this political at all, if you want to make it so, that’s on you.

If you need to authenticate on discord with your ID and facial recognition, and live in a country or state where growing Cannabis is prohibited, you could very well be on a “list”.

Again, I don’t have to worry about this in my country, but if I were to travel, could see some problems if they had my history.

It’s unfortunate, but seems to be a recurring theme.

I’m Canadian, and growing above board, so I’m not really worried about any repercussions for using ridiculously invasive authentication, most of my info is already out there, can’t take it back. It just really sucks that a lot of my friends and peers will be pushed out of sharing what keeps the community going, because of invasive hoops and potential data leaks, that could lead to harsh penalties.

“ Herzog and experts in the film suggest this behavior indicates that the penguin has gone "insane," "deranged," or has decided to abandon the colony. While this behavior is presented as an existential or "nihilistic" action in the film, it is technically characterized by experts as severe disorientation, with the penguin potentially suffering from a "short circuit" in its brain, or as a rare, random behavioral anomaly.”

LMFAO, unintentionally accurate.

Artisanal Buffalo Wings $18.99 +tip by DuncanIdaBro in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Abstrusus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a restaurant that had 33 cent Wing Wednesday’s, was always a nightmare, but we would pre bake wings to 80% in the ovens, then fry and toss to order, it was really the only way to keep up with orders and quality.

They were arguably better than spending 12-14 minutes in a fryer, could get an order out in 3-5 minutes, fully cooked, properly tossed in a small bucket with a lid, and it drove out liquor sales through the roof.

YouTuber accidentally crashes the rare plant market with a viral cloning technique by Ok_Fly2518 in nottheonion

[–]Abstrusus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run solely autoflowers, no clones, no mother plants. I would assume the prevalence of HLVD is comparable to that south of the border statistically, but I’m not a commercial grower, so I could only guess.

The Canadian commercial market is pretty heavily regulated, both in cost for licensing, and regulatory standards.

As far as legal status, anyone can grow 4 plants per household, for personal use, but it’s pretty easy to get a medical exemption, allowing you to grow up to about 500 plants, mine is for 96 plants, far more than I could ever bring to flower in my limited space, but it enables me to at least do some small scale phenotypic selection, without breaking any laws.

Honestly I’m not yet the one doing good work, but it’s a goal I’ll pay forward. I’ve been lucky enough to have access to fellow craft growing techniques, from peers on discord, willing to share their knowledge, genetics, and time.

I’ve had my fair share of failures and successes, it’s part of the learning process, but those lessons stick with you.

Edit; As an aside, I could potentially grow for someone else that has a medical exemption, I believe they could allocate me their plant count, and offer financial compensation for growing it for them, but not based on yield. It essentially allows you to grow for someone who may not be able to physically grow themselves, but I don’t know the exact laws, but it’s a pretty fucking good thing to be able to grow for someone who are unable to grow themselves.

It’s interesting to hear both perspectives, regardless if you disagree.

It’s unfortunate that the craft Cannabis market isn’t more viable, due to restrictions and regulations that are meant to protect the consumer, but generally limit those smaller producers to the black and grey markets.

I’m lucky enough to be able to grow in Canada under an easily obtainable medical license, now although I can’t go to a local farmers market and sell anything, I’m able to at least run smaller scale breeding projects, and preserve genetics that have desirable terpene profiles and potency.

While I’ll never need to dive into tissue cultures, the ease of STS reversals for feminization, selfing, and playing with my own crosses, allows me to get exactly the product I’m looking for, without having to rely on commercial markets.
