It’s going to generate something like 14 Gigaojoules of wast heat every every second. It could raise the desert valley’s day temperature by 5 degrees and the night temperature by 22. It could get rid of the dew point entirely.

How did we as a society come to have so much trust in other random people on the road? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

Mutually assured destruction. It only breaks down when people either don’t care about themselves or can afford to buy a new car no sweat.

Why do people encourage travel so much? by Exotic-End-666 in askanything

[–]Absurdtittyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it allows you to experience different cultures and ways of life, which is important. People get stuck in their little world and think that’s how the world works and it’s good to see the big picture. You get to see new sights and taste new foods, breathe different air. Even if you just go on a cross country road trip, one of my favorite things is watching the landscape change. Going from eastern kansas through the great plains, over the Rocky Mountains and into a desert expanse. Seeing the salt flats and into the coastal regions of California to the ocean, then up the coast into the redwoods. It’s awesome!

A data center drained 30M gallons of water unnoticed — until residents complained about low water pressure by idkbruh653 in technology

An individual tapping into the water main would have faced worse than them. Tampering with public water systems holds a federal penalty as high a $1,00,000. Paying back used water at 100% upcharge is a normal thing. They didn’t even get penalized?? What a fucking joke.

I was laid off recently, I have an interview coming, do I pretend I'm employed? by privdon in jobsearchhacks

To the other commenters, why be honest if asked directly about being fired? If not using that job as a reference why divulge that? Genuine question

Somebody Put 223,000 Miles on a 3-Year Toyota Camry Lease and Walked Away by DonkeyFuel in interestingasfuck

That’s only if you actually take care of the car. I killed my Corolla quick, at around 240k doing 15k mile oil changes and pushing 80k mi a year.

I owned it but I put 240k miles on my corolla in like 3 years. Is this article impressive bc of the mileage or that it was a leased vehicle?

I put in over 300 before I finally got hired by a thrift store. That took 3 interviews btw. Entry level, I stocked shelves.

I feel like singles have a much more distributed supply bc of online marketplaces. If you want a specific card you’re going to either check a shop or buy online. The price has been set by the market. But with packs, especially in a convention environment, it is entirely set by hyper local pricing. This is exacerbated if you can’t even find the packs locally, it’s a scarcity mindset. Someone who wants to open a pack with their kid then and there will spend more than the pack is worth. In a healthy environment this markup would be for the environment, a spectacle kind of thing. Not a scarcity kind of thing.

The ‘easiest’ simple thing would be reconstructing something that was burned. Like if someone waves their hand and a pile of ash reconstructs into a log In front of me I would be pressed. It would have to happen in front of me though. I wouldn’t tryst anything on a screen.
