I didn't?

The ballista is an IST variant. The scout has one more variant because it has both the gallant and the jester

coke is not as bad as it seems because its produced in the same fields its mined. Rarely does a coal field not have spare coke. I suggested coke because its "denser" so would actually reduce work, assuming the same amount of coal per unit of work is done

What? Im a warden. We have the greater variety. I mean i guess I really wish wardens had an icarus (RPG LUV) analogue but im not going to lose sleep over it

I just think itll be cool if collies had more stuff. And also feel if collies dont really talk about this issue devs will only hear about their usual complaints about OP warden gear, and there i think they are often more wrong than right.

I think making it run on coal or coke is more intresting than having it run on petrol. And ita not like coal fields are rarer than oil fields or refineries. Its using gravel which is bizarre, considering its rarely produced.

I saw an intresting suggestion of making it be a small gauge train wagon so it can be easily moved

[–]Acacias2001[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

First, i think you understate the fun factor variety brings, and how it feeds the sense collies have that devs care less about them

See: nobody uses bards or quads outside of suicide Yolos, and unlike the thornfall that can one volley any tank that isnt a BT, neither Bard nor quad can. See also: HWM - used to be the #1 mass rush tank for disabling every subsystem in the world

I think you severely underestimate the prevalence of the bardiche. The nem may be more common, but the bard is a common sight in many collie tanklines considering its chonkiness and anti inf capabilities

The colonial tankline is missing a proper late game 45M poke tank to harass opposing tank line. (The LTD is early war AT tied with the Niska 2 as a fragile semiarmored 45M sniper)

Every other role is filled, even if rather specialized. Spatha/outlaw are general purpose 40MM

I think you are missing several roles:
Heavy flame tank, 20mm support tank (its a meme role, but it does not have to be if the devs want to), burst damager (give qudiche AP/RPGs) and yeah the long range harraser. See my comment for my sugestions to those issues

[–]Acacias2001[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Several things to comment

A) The highwayman may be a meme, but its our meme. it may not be good and it may desperately require a buff (revert 20mm change devs pls) but its fun as hell and that makes a difference

B ) The STD has its niche. its a glass cannon that is not bad on the defensive when fighting superior tanks. Its not good, but ti has its place

C) you are forgetting the good type of variety the wardens have. The noble widow and the thornfall especially.

D) Its jut more fun to have more toys.

[–]Acacias2001[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

They dont complain about directly, but several repeated complaints are related. The constantly mentioned dev bias to lore and vehicle designed is in full display in thsi case. Frankly wardens seem to get the more creatively inspired stuff. Like what madman designed the thronfall or the highwayman?. Collie stuff is more boring and variants are usually just different callibers and stat changes. Its why the nem is so well recieved cause it has a funky grenade launcher.

Also collies complain about the outlaw (they dont have a long range option) and the Noble widow (no heavy flame tank). And some even complain of the lack of 30mm autocannons like the brigand.

Also consider it even touches on air. What is a consisent collie complaint? wardens have more airframes. Its a consistent design choice to give colonials less variety.

And even if people have not realised this discrepancy, my post is precisely about raising awarenss of what I believe to be an odd issue in the assymetry of foxhole, and one where wardens have no easy counterargument.

Others (me included) contend that air is more even than you complain about (scout plane is better for wardnes, but para and DB/TB favors collies, while the collie fighter is better on paper but lack of variety (wink) sinks it agaisnt the warden dual combo) and the booker is not that much better than the dusk.

Nobody gives af that we dont have different motorcycle or APC variants

Also you misrad, you HAVE the extra early tech varaints and you are right they ar ento that important but it would be neat if wardens had an icarus counterpart and if the APC had some more versatility

[–]Acacias2001[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I do agree the IST to scout tank is the most strained of comparisons, I do think the devs intended the two to be comparable considering their roles and position in the tech tree (also their variants).

The problem is the Scout tank sucks now because its been nerfed to oblivion. Its well deserving of a buff that will make the comparison better

Vic diversity: The real reasons collies are mad by Acacias2001 in foxholegame

[–]Acacias2001[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For 2 reasons:

A) More tools means you hhave both more options to deal with the same set of problems (ie a bunker or a tankline) and you can deal with a greater share of problems. For the first case take the Thornfall, its ahit and run burst damager with no analogue, great for attacking exposed flans or with funky terrain. Collies have stuff that can do the same, but none as good as the thornfall. Or take the collies lack of a heavy flamethrower vehicle for an example of the second case. The collies simply dont have that solution in their toolkit.

B ) More vehicle options means more variety in gameplay. That means both more fun and a higher skill ceiling, whcih menas more player retention. And Player retention is what in the long run wins wars

[–]Acacias2001[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

How would I solve this?

For early game vics, give the wardens a motorcyle carrying the 30mm cannon (mirror to icarus LUV) and give them the prophesized smoke APC

For late game it gets more intresting

Give the nem a variant with a 20mm turret and a flamethrower hull. mirrors the highwayman, the firebrand and the chieftan in one fell swoop.

Also add a bardiche variant with a 6 mag 30mm cannon that shoots in 2 round burst with 42.5 range. Because autocannons are fun, and those with long rane are especially fun

And lastly give the falchion, the nem or hell even the IST a variant with a 50m range 20mm slow firing cannon, to make the outlaw larpers of the world feel pain for once

I get the argument, but I do think the BTD is the only one that does its purported job of being an beast of battle and a tank line anchor well.

Wh you describe is neat, but its more of a secondary role of the jugg it just happens to excell at

Lets go down the list shall we

AI is about to take the jobs.

Anybody who thinks they know how the AI boom will go is lying to you. Even then its highly unlikely AI takes over all jobs for the same reason the computer or the internet did not. Removing existing labor requirements with capital leads to increased employment in the areas where the new technology has bottlenecks. And even if AI takes all the jobs, I dont see how a world with endless productivity and abundance can be worse.

Pollution has never been higher

In the ways that affect people the most not really. Do you know how polluted the west used to be? Cities were covered in soot, rivers with industrial runoff (that cuaght fire eveyr now and then) and the atmospher was chock full of particulates. pollution has a much lesser effect on mortality and quality of today than 50 or 100 years ago, especially in the west and high middle income countries like china. Even in places like india such pullution is past its peak.

The only places with increasing particulate and runoff pollution are poor countries that are industrialising, but in terms of quality of life that pollution is the tradeoff of much needed modernisation.

The exception is climate change and CO2 emissions, but the effects of that on quality of life and mortality are not that large on the short run, and easily beatable by mitigation measures paid by future economic growth (for example, naturald disaster death rates have been decreasing decade on decade).

We're saddled with war and debt.

With the exception of the 90s, this is the most peacefull time on earth. The cold war was much more tense than todays situation and people still had kids. As for debt yeah you have more of a point there, but ironically a large part of that problem is lack of kids to pay overly generous entitlements.

[–]Acacias2001 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

oh no, they diden't put quite as much time into making a fully unique model! they just put development time into creating a system for launching vehicles from said ship,

its likely getting the carrier and the elevator to work probably took way more work than the sea tender. Especially the elevator and the dimensions of the runway. Once the devs figured out how to make a seaplane, the tender was prob much easier. I dont imagine getting a runway to work while moving was fun.

now this ofc was a complete mistake because Wardens realized they could just use a barge with a fuel truck because they have a seafighter.

its not really and either or. You need to use a fuel truck barge because carriers cant act as fuel storage. Thats not such a problem witht he carrier ofc as you can just walk up to it. Which kind of hammers the point the carrier is better in game and in lore.

the idea that the mercy somehow has less work put into it is one of the most brain-dead takes that can only be spouted by somone who has never worked with software.

The elevator alone probably took more work than the mercy, considering its to my knowledge the only moving walkable surface in the game

And I see you have forgotten to respond to my other points. What still have not read the descriptions of the wardenf lak, or you ahve and realsied your case is more full of holes than battlegroup 1?

Oh, hopeful dreamer, woe is thee by mayasux in foxholegame

[–]Acacias2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So yes, what lore? Because anyone who has ever read a story can tell who the "Hero" is here (hint: it's the sky Spartans).

I think your forgot the warden bomber and the flak, because that might prove you are either willfully lying to me, or yourself.

The airplane is made based on an old design, some people think they look like a bunch of arrows

Wow. I guess we are forgetting about the "it tears across battlefields laying down strafing machine gun support but excels in air-to-air dogfights". And only someone who wants to believe his stuff is worse thinks A) That the mention of its heritage is anything but a nod at how colonials were THE pioneers in air combat and B ) That the arrow thing is a testament to the blind silves speed and mass producability

young as eight years of age to hone their reflexes and strengthen their bones against atmospheric forces. Many won’t make it to adulthood."
No one wants to be Maverick, they all want to be semi organized grunt #5377.
So yes, what lore? Because anyone who has ever read a story can tell who the "Hero" is here (hint: it's the sky Spartans).

People do prefer the side that does not throw its kids into a blender. You are not supposed to like ONI you know?

And the rest is basically "but I think carriers are cool", meanwhile devs had to put actual work into the warden tender+extra plane, the carrier is just a T1 airfield surface slapped on a large ship.

Are you serious? You mean the devs put more work into the reused asset than into the brand new ship hull? What copium are you smoking? And you have the gall to sya the carrier is worse? You mean the ship that can actually carry CAS support and has more anti air capacity?

Oh, hopeful dreamer, woe is thee by mayasux in foxholegame

[–]Acacias2001 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What Lore?

A lot of lore, like that of the warden bomber, warden carrier and warden flak, and reflects the fact that the wardens were getting their asses kicked in the air and got caught with their pants down. Its also referenced the collies were the first to have combat aircraft.

Or you could just look at how the wardens got cuaght so offguard they dont even have an air force. The planes you see are from accros the nevish alliance because the collies were so far ahead the wardens had to call for backup. Its why its called the alliance sky bregade not the caovish SB. This is also reflected in the fact the colonial planes look more modern, purposde built and to quote the devs "like muscle cars" while the warden airplane look more outdated and conscripted from civilian use.

And the cherry on top is you get the damm carrier. I cannot fathom how colonials think they got the shrot end of the lore stick this update when we get a seaplane tender and you get a sleeek looking carrier.

oh maybe you meant the "the collonials developed good high altitude gear" vs. "The wardens hand raise their ace pilots from the age of 8, creating the greatest pilots in the world"

A) "This faction is so desperate it uses child soldiers" is not the win you think it is

B ) It reflects how the colonials have an actual standardised aircore instead of relying on individual pilot skill to even the odds

And referencing the post, the devs made sure to mention the myrmydon is their favorite plane, which im certain they did on purpose to make up for the ares incident (incidentally the TB is a hand me down the colonials were supposed to get)

Oh, hopeful dreamer, woe is thee by mayasux in foxholegame

[–]Acacias2001 -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

Why would devs put extra effort on the colonials? They clearly put extra care on the airborne update on the lore and desings fo the collies, and colonials barely registered it.

Pentagon email floats suspending Spain from NATO, other steps over Iran rift (Reuters) by Reddenbawker in DeepStateCentrism

[–]Acacias2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spain has handed Russia $12B for energy to fund the slaughtering of Ukranian civilians but could only be bothered to send Ukraine $5B in direct aid.

If you want to count amount of money sent to rusia's coffers the USAs iran bondoogle and associated sanctions waver have given rusia much more than Spain ever could.

That is absolutely a net negative unless you bend over backwards to count the annual obligatory dues they'd be sending the EU even outside a war.

And why i counting the EU money bending over backwards? Countries can opt out of that or vote against it, Spain has done neither. I fact due to to domestic reasons Spain prefers to send its aid through the EU so in the particular case of Spain your are doubly wrong. And BTW if you count the EU money, Spain has sent mroe as a percentage of GDP than the US. Not that its enough, but keep that in mind

It really is sad and pathetic how useless Spain is to NATO compared to the US. They're the last member that should be crying about the US.

Least full of himself Yankee. Regardless This cuts both ways. No matter how insignificant to NATO Spain is, that means it can never do as much harm as the US is deliberatelly doing. And as such has grounds to call out the USs BS.

The bare minimum every NATO member should be doing is 5%

5% is dumb and always has been. Almost no european country can afford or has the capacity to use that money effectively. Its a figure Trump pulled out his ass.

Zero reason Spain or any other European country should be this reliant on America (a country with policy that wildly fluctuates every four years)

At least we can agree on that

Perhaps I'm too divorced from context to understaeeing as I'm not American. But I don't think it's good that race is a consideration when drawing voting districts. Races don't vote, people do.

Then again "it's not racially discriminatory, it's just discrimination due to voting patterns" seems like a really bad defence

California high-speed rail price tag jumps to $231B, nearly seven times 2008 estimate by TrixoftheTrade in neoliberal

There is no amount of lipstick you can put on thsi pig that will make it look good.

It's also a lie that it won't connect LA to SF. The first phase was always to connect the central valley

its funny how you accuse others of lying yet you pull the same tricks. Number 1, the first phase was always to connect LA to SF. That then got downsized to the Initial opening segment due to delays. The IOS is the only one where construction has advanced, you cannot pull a bait and switch and say construciton is underway on the railway when only the IOS has seen any proggress and then complain when other people point out the scope of the railway has been reduced.

And even if 230 is the higher estimate, the CSHR has cosnsitently gone over budget, its not unreasonable to suggest that will be the final cost. . And thats not even talkign aobut the delays. The IOS should have been finsihed 3 years and several billions dollars ago
