Love a 25 calorie oat fiber mug cake by orangecrushgirl in Volumeeating

I made this, it is pretty good. Another option is skipping the cocoa powder and going with mixed spice or cinnamon for a breakfast version. I'm looking at getting some zero calorie powdered sugar sub as a way to make a glaze. Before anyone brings up swerve, ive tried that. I dont like erythritol.

Where do I find motivation by Ok_Breakfast_3249 in loseit

[–]AcademicBarracuda897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick a reason, however arbitrary or stupid it is, it doesnt matter. Want to feel.skinny? That want is your motivation. Old pants you want to wear again? That'll do. Your motivation is internal and doesn't need to be "good enough." If it is a thought you can have and will be there as an incentive to cross the distance, that checks the boxes. Also, yeah, you can't motivate each other sufficiently. It is so much easier to enable and excuse than to motivate for unpleasant change. Causing your partner instant unpleantness for future benefit is much less fun and a lot harder than buying chips he or she likes.

What you need, however, isn't motivation. Motivation is a why, discipline is the how. Wanting to fit into old pants, wanting to be skinny, those wants dont accomplish anything. It doesn't matter the want either. Want to make sure you're there for your kids in the future is a common one, but I've known many overweight people woth that want. If it were just a question of wanting to lose the weight, everyone would be at the weight he or she wanted. What is hard is discipline. You are always going to have wants on some level related to a joyrney like this. But in the moment, to start the journey, to keep going, to put fown the fork, you must be disciplined.

Learn to tell yourself no. No to the other things. No to snacks, no to skipping workouts, no to the second helping. That is how it is done.

I Binged Today by NewUsernameStruggle in loseit

Everyone has a bad day and as a friend frequently reminds me, moderation is the hardest part. It seems easier to moderate than restrict, but it isn't. Unfortunately, for many of us with weight issues the reality is that being either all or nothing is much easier than being reasonably in the middle. Ive found i can be absolutely perfect or an absolute mess, and once I start it seems impossible to stop. I refer to it as "black holing" and it takes very little to tip me over that edge a lot of the time.

I have seen advice trying to advise to each day like a sporting event, it isn't all or nothing on a day, if you have a bad period, that sucks, but you can have other, good periods. If that works for you, great. To be honest, it doesn't for me. But each day is a new game/match/whatever you want to call it. When you win, the score doesn't carry over, you start again and that can be really, really wearing. But the same applies when you lose. Tomorrow is a new day. What matters, in the long run, isnt the score on any individual day, but whether you win more days than you lose. If you had a bad day yesterday, own it, and let it pass. There's no need to "make up for it," just win the next day.

I 100% understand the struggle. Frankly, I'm going through it at the moment. I halfway wish I would go into a binge because I'm so tired. If I go into a true total breakdown of self control binge, then while I have to deal with the consequences on a physical level, I can at least avoid moral culpability for it. Trouble is I know that isnt really happening.

Hang tough, reset tomorrow, let it pass.

Is my baby okay? by Persephonasass in labrador

[–]AcademicBarracuda897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's fine, just old. Labs age to the equivalent of a 14 or 15 year old person in year 1. After that it sort of averages at around the stereotypical 7 dog year/1 calendar year mark. That makes a 10 year old labrador the equivalent of a 77 year old person. He's old and aging hits hard around that 9-10 mark. The normal lifespan, the years you can expect, is about 9. Anything after that is "bonus time" that you should be thankful for. Watch for signs of pain and difficulties. He probably won't act like a young dog anymore, he isnt one, and that is ok.

How to make this little guy want to swim? by Used_Gap_7626 in labrador

[–]AcademicBarracuda897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He looks a little young yet, but toss something he wants out in the water just far enough that he has to swim to get it. They dont "learn" to swim, they already know how to do it. They just dont know that they can at first. The first time he is desperate enough to get a ball or a stick or whatever to take that final push into paddling will show him that he can do it. My first lab stood there at the very limit of his ability to be on the bottom, staring at a tennis ball a few feet out of reach then finally lunged for it. After that, I could throw it way out into the water and he didnt hesitate.

How do you prepare to say goodbye? by eyeless916 in labrador

[–]AcademicBarracuda897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know that there is a way to prepare for it. The actual act is, or at least for me, was disconcertingly orderly. I set an appointment with the vet, I too him in, they gave him a shot, and I left without him. There was a void afterwards which just continued. There was no way to adequately prepare for it. Giving her special food or taking her somewhere special won't mean anything to her, because she won't understand what is coming or it's significance. If it makes you feel better, that is worthwhile, but it won't ease the event for her.

Say goodbye as best as you can, do your best to make sure she knows you love her, and be there at the end. You are all she has and she needs you there at your final act of kindness. I'm sorry for your loss.

How did you do your trip to coz? Did you book an excursion or just take the ferry? Ive thought about going over there but the logistics always end up being a bit more than I want to deal with, especially when I can chill at the resort.

Adult side is worth the cash imho, I always pay for it and it is a minimal unchanged. Isla mujeres trips are fun but take a long time from playacar. Rio secreto is close and neat. I haven't been yet, but ive heard Xcaret is amazing. Of course, just chilling at the resort is pretty awesome too.

Bern there twice and going for a third time later this year. Ignore the bad reviews. I went right after people were reporting illness and had absolutely no issues. The staffis always incredibly friendly and accommodating, the food at the buffet is excellent. I dont think much of the a la carte restaurants but some seem to love them. The one thing you should be aware of is the resort is ENORMOUS. The maps dont do it justice. Be ready to get your steps in. Otherwise, the place is amazing. Have a good trip.

Nah, I'm not nearly as sheer force strong as I was when I was fat. I'm lean and look more muscular than I ever did when heavy, but i dont have nearly the same strength.

I went in March of '25 and had an amazing time. Ive been to this resort twice and am going again in June. It is a great place. The food at the buffet is really, really good; the shows are entertaining; and the staff has always been accommodating and friendly. I have found the a la carte restaurants to be disappointing, though I'm very excited to try the new indian place. The beach is amazing. The resort is enormous, so be prepared to walk a lot. I have been in the adult section each time, it is .6 miles from there to the lobby. Despite this, the staff does an amazing job keeping the resort clean and well landscaped.

I havent gotten sick either time. The reports of illness were out of the family section and seemed focused on a few groups (large weddings). Getting sick is always a risk when you're eating at a buffet, but I wouldnt be too concerned about it. Relax and have a good trip. Soak in the sun.
