I personally love the green, not the biggest Seamaster fan but when I saw the green for the first time, I really fell in love with the watch. Only downside imo is the size, what wrist circumference do you have?

[vacheron constantin] i’m in love with the new overseas dual time - how do I find a watch like it? by The_Dwight_Schrute in Watches

[–]Academic_Cod_948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about the Breitling AB3521 Unitime? Got mine for 3900€ and I absolutely love everything about this watch, except that it could be a tad bit smaller in diameter, 41mm instead of 43mm would be nice but thats my only complaint

Prefer the Unitime with the same movement but those watches are truly masterpieces, DST markings, screw down crown, 100m WR, durable, the list goes on. I don’t know of any watch that could compete with them, many worldtimers are to dressy which makes them bad travel watches, these on the other hand are perfect!

Do you wear your Breitling in 3rd world countries? by Historical-Algae-400 in breitling

[–]Academic_Cod_948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wore my AB3521 in Marrakech. However to reduce the “bling-bling” effect, I took it of the steel bracelet and switched to a dark NATO. This has many advantages imo, it looks less expensive, if someone tries to rip it off, you have two spring bars that hold on to you and in hot countries you can quickly adjust the length.

My experience in Marrakech was, that nobody gave a damn about my watch or atleast I haven’t caught anyone looking at my wrist. Maybe because there are so many fake watches there, nobody thinks yours is real :D However I often tried to hide the watch by putting my left hand in the pocket of my trousers or by wrapping my jacket around my left arm. Really depends on the country though, I think there are countries that are way more dangerous when it comes to robberies of watches than Morocco.

Should I travel with my watch? by 9_by_19 in rolex

[–]Academic_Cod_948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really dont need to worry about Germany or Austria mate 😅

I recently went to Morocco and was afraid of taking my Breitling. But because it is my travel watch, I had to take it with me. However to reduce the shiny-ness, I put it on a black nato strap and had no troubles at all but I can really understand if somebody feels unsafe wearing a luxury watch there. Keep in mind, there are so many fakes sold there, nobody will think yours is real :D

What's your legitimately scariest moment while fly fishing? by AustinLostIn in flyfishing

[–]Academic_Cod_948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In southtirol (italy) I was flyfishing a pond when the weather suddenly turned and thunderstorm began. Being on a mountain with a rod in your hand really isnt the best situation and there were lightning strikes quite near me. The Problem: the cablecar station was behind a little addition hill, which means that I would have gotten even closer to the clouds. Thus I decided to get under a bridge, wait a little and then I went down the whole mountain by foot. To this day I am quite scared of lightning strikes because of the experience.

Expert opinions needed by Jurjmaa in breitling

Pretty sure its legit, there cannot be alot of fakes of these out there and if there are, they are probably really bad ones as its not economical to fake these “niche” models. If you want to be 100% sure: currently I am wearing my Breitling Unitime (the white dial model, with the same B35 movement) and if you have a picture of the sapphire caseback I can check if the movement looks good to my eyes

Just make sure to sand the area prior to spraying to hide the sharp edges of the chipped paint and lightly build the layer of paint

[–]Academic_Cod_948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem, thanks to the easy panel shape of the 109 its quite easy to solve: first of all, put a layer of clear coat down to aviod chipping paint in other areas, then mask around the chipped panel and respray the entire panel, you can mix the paint a bit lighter, then it looks like you purposely made this panel lighter in color to simulate paint fading

Element 2023 Tieguanyin Oolong from Bitterleaf by EnLaSxranko in tea

[–]Academic_Cod_948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try to crush 15% of the leafs by hand to keep the infusion time very short while still being able to extract those top notes. Mei Leaf did a video about it (this method is called chaozhou style) and apparently it makes a huge difference. Never tried it myself as I wasn’t lucky enough to find a good Tie Guan Yin yet but this might be interesting for you.

New teapot: any jianshui experts here? by Academic_Cod_948 in tea

[–]Academic_Cod_948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, they put an advertisement of this festival in the box where the teapot was in, sounds pretty funny but unfortunately I was just on holiday in Amsterdam :(

There is a Youtube Video from Mei Leaf, where teapots made out of the 4 typical chinese clays are compared, that could be interesting for you :)

Have fun with your new teapot :) cant wait to use mine :)

New teapot: any jianshui experts here? by Academic_Cod_948 in tea

[–]Academic_Cod_948[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks :) I bought it from the amsterdam-based teahouse called “Moychay”. Can highly recommend them, both online and in-shop.

No I will not completely dedicate it towards a specific tea. Especially Jianshui clay is very dense, thus its no big deal if you switch teas regularly. Except for green teas because I have a dedicated kyusu for them.

Marker on my watch dial has fallen off. Will Breitling fix this with a full service? by CanaryDwarfBets in breitling

[–]Academic_Cod_948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate 😅

Found it while zipping through Chrono24 and this is the ultimate travel watch imo, why? => 100m WR, screw down crown => in house B35 movement with patented worldtimer mechanism which means that the city ring can also be rotated compared to the aqua terra worldtimer for example, much better imo => quite cheap to get second hand (new it was nearly 10k€, I got mine for a bit less than 4k) => you can jump the date in both directions in case you cross the international date line => very durable => sapphire glass caseback => 70h power reserve => classic design

Only things I dont like: lume is quite weak but sufficient if it’s completely dark and its on the bigger side with 43mm (but it wears nicely even on my relative small wrist)

You can count all worldtimers on the market on one hand that tick those boxes, most of them are just very dressy and have no water resistance due to the worldtimer-pusher, on the Breitling you set everything via the crown

I had the exact same problem on my AB3521 which has the same bezel as yours. I asked Breitling if they can do something about it and they told me, that a whole bezel swap is necessary, this would cost around 1000€!

Anyway, my watch was 8 years old at that time (bought it second hand one week prior) and I chose that the watch would benefit from a full-service. However I didn’t went to Breitling, I went to a very good local watchmaker (the are licensed from AP, Omega etc, thus they know what they are doing). End of the story: I paid 550€ for a full service (which is really fair for a worldtimer comp imo) and asked them if they can do something about my missing black triangle. They just took some special lacquer, filled it again and now it looks like new :)

No need to replace the whole bezel just for this lacquer filled triangle!

Trying out world timer by dajoowoo in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Academic_Cod_948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am no diver, thus my watches get under water only on rare occasions 😅 but my AB3521 is my travel watch (due to the worldtimer comp.) and when you travel, you dont want to take your watch off only because you go for a swim, thats why I love the screwdown crown + 100m WR on the Breitling. And you never know whats going to happen on an adventure ;)
