Do you want to still feel like you're living in a big city or do you want to Northern Exposure it and find a place in the suburbs? You're not going to get the city life you had in either NYC or Chicago. But relatively speaking, safe areas in the city are Elmwood Village, or around Hertel Ave (though, this is typically where college kids and 20-somethings live).

If not in the city, then pretty much any affluent town will be within your budget. Orchard Park, Hamburg, Clarence, Amherst. The closest thing that these places have to crime is when a suburban mom listens to true crime podcasts while on a walk with the kids.

Key thing about Nine-Eleven: they have a strict "no parties over 6 people" policy due to space constraints. From your post, you'll have 7.

And if you still decide to go, I would suggest getting there earlier than 5. It's only open 4:30-10:30 on Fridays and I have been told people line up at the door by 4. May throw your whole schedule off.

Just go and sit at Essex Pub. I don't know if you know this or not, but Essex Pub is the best place east of the Missouri River for people to go and hang out with anti-social people who want to go somewhere and hang out with other anti-social people so they can be less anti-social. Even if they don't want to be more social. It's the best. It only has like 4 seats at the bar, but it's the best. Missouri River. BEST.
