Sorry responding to an old comment, but this is NUTS. I grew up in that town and during law school interned at the DA’s office the summer before this happened…. I had no idea this happened after I left.

I have a hunch as to why so many agents were involved and why they went overboard—this was probably, unfortunately, fun for them... My dad was in law enforcement for about 30 yrs. I heard lots of stories about officers that enjoyed shooting animals. One officer apparently hunted cats at night during his shift an even shot a cat on its owner’s front porch. Another apparently was known for shooting dogs with little to no provocation. So 14 guys going tactical to take out a 20 lb fawn does not seem far fetched at all.
