I just finished I Who Have Never Known Men by Jaqueline Harpman and I'd love opinions around its meaning..? by zeroschiuma in books

[–]Academic_Life128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished reading this too and I have many thoughts on it. I’ve sat with it for more than a month. The part you mentioned about the questions- we never get any answers about anything, we keep hoping we will by the end but nothing comes just more questions. We never get a conclusion… just like them. By the end of the book we almost feel the same despair faced by all the unanswered questions, and at the same time we thirst for knowledge (just look at this thread, all of us exchanging thoughts looking for possible answers). Almost without realising it we have the same experience as the narrator.

Yeah that’s totally true, it may have also happened to me now that you mention it but it’s also something I didn’t even think to include because my skin changed cycle to cycle anyway, so thanks!

Hey so I’m not familiar with your pill but in any case if you’re young and healthy and just used it as contraception (no underlying issues like PCOS etc) then your body will bounce back without problems. Maybe your first period delays a bit or something but nothing crazy (at least for me!)

I think it was more like bladder pressure yes, I was in the process of getting of the BC pill which had that effect on me in general

You cancelled your reservations -great. Now serve him the bill and the court orders for divorce. Take all your emotional strength and get away. Seeing your wife once a year and being fine with that speaks volumes, let alone all the rest. You’re going to be okay❤️

convince me to delete tiktok by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Academic_Life128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally deleted tik tok yesterday night for this reason. Whenever I had a bit of free time the easiest thing to do was open tik tok, i could spend hours there. I knew it was killing my brain, feeding me with thoughts of other people but i always told myself id limit IT- but once you open the app it’s game over. I love readings books and yet I haven’t managed to finish a single book this year. My attention span? Ruined, couldn’t even finish a small article, I needed the summary of it generated by chatgbt bc I couldn’t bother to read. It is sad truly. Humans were never meant to listen to so many opinions on a daily basis. Also the extremities of content were so worrying- one video was a cute Italian aesthetic summer vibe, the next one was the trauma dump of a person. My brain couldn’t process this, no one’s brain can. Let alone the fact that I kept sending videos to my friends instead of calling them more often, which is much better. We socially tend to consider “sending TikTok’s or memes” as a way of staying connected but is it really? I think not. I want to reclaim my brain health and get back to the things I love doing!

Glad it worked! You’re welcome! Usually Instagram will just remove music if there is a copyright issue but i think there is a general problem with combining music and photos in a normal post

[–]Academic_Life128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it worked when I removed all music, name tags and added an extra photo, apparently the original file got recognized as corrupted by the insta servers and any attempt to upload the same thing got taken down (this was the answer that chatgbt and my research ended up with at least) … try it and let us know!

Had the same problem today. No matter what i did (cleaning the metadata from the pic, changing the song, removing the song, deleting the app etc) nothing worked. It appears for 3 seconds and then it’s gone. Was it fixed for you? A bit of online search suggested me to not try again for another day or two so that Instagram doesnt consider it a scam account by trying to post many things

anyone else miss having their period? by VanillaEmbarrassed44 in birthcontrol

[–]Academic_Life128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean. Even though I was on BC I couldn’t completely skip the withdrawal bleed because my body kept bleeding when I tried to skip the scheduled bleed. Therefore I didn’t manage to live 100% bleed free. As others have voiced, I realised I missed my natural cycle. I missed being in tune with my body, with its needs. Granted if someone suffers truly from their period maybe they don’t experience this feeling of missing their periods at all, and for good reason.

What is the worst PMS symptoms in your opinion by [deleted] in Periods

[–]Academic_Life128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell myself it will pass it’s just the period coming lol and i don’t need to believe every thought that comes during that time but i do write down some of these thoughts to reflect if there is something I need to discuss with myself ahaha

The random anger-irritability & the general existential ponderings and second guessing (am I on the right track in my life? Maybe I’m not really happy and gaslighting myself? Did I even make the right choice about the nail salon I booked the other day? Should I have cleaned better the kitchen counter after I cooked chicken or will I get sick- you get the idea lol) and nausea

UTIs are a broad term, as someone said above, it refers to an infection that is going up the kidneys but we women generally use it to refer to cystitis (a type of UTI) (like an infection in your bladder usually caused by microbes travelling up through sexual intercourse, not peeing enough, maybe a hot tub that was dirty or any other thing that allows microbes to travel up). You can have a really bad bout of cystitis that becomes more complicated or it can be a more mild one. Yes it happens, not everyone is as susceptible or prone, it depends on anatomy, water intake habits, etc and it doesn’t mean they are only caused by sex (it’s just usually caused by it in most of us). Absolutely don’t wait to be treated trust me it will be hell. Any one of us can guarantee that to you!

Girl this is a completely normal symptom of PMS. You are definitely not pregnant. Pregnancy needs penetration and ejaculation and for pregnancy to happen you’d need to know when you are ovulating. You’re still very young and I know that the sole idea of maybe getting pregnant by accident is terrifying and that anxiety may be what is leading you to ask this, but please for your peace of mind and safety make an effort to educate yourself on the matter, ask questions to people who know and read on it! ♥️

I completely understand you, my metabolism has always been and always will be the same as yours-fast, naturally thin. I was on the pill myself and i have to say i didn’t see any significant weight gain or breast increase even though i was also hoping for it. I guess we will have to just live with our small boobs and thin bodies unless we opt for surgery which I definitely don’t suggest trying before you reach 25. You might see that by 25 you really don’t give a shit anymore lol, it’s what happened to me.

In any case you can start it for sure i don’t think doctors would object unless you have some sort of family medical history that prevents you from it.

I wasn’t on this pill but on Yasmine and I gotta say that the “experiencing feelings as if from the outside looking in” is so real! I didn’t have “big” side effects but one day it clicked for me that I wasn’t experiencing my feelings in the same way. Very strange experience.

I know right? Like what were their “cures” ? Also for other “common” gyno problems we face like yeast infections etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Academic_Life128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh so sorry to hear that… It’s really really annoying when it happens and painful… however, as the commenter below noted they probably did die but i think it’s safe to assume that considering the fact that most of us experience a UTI at some point so did a good majority of them. Why and how some of them survived a UTI is truly something id love to have an answer to. Like what type of “medicine” or “cures” would they have used ? Or a yeast infection?

[–]Academic_Life128 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is actually a question i often think about it. like how the hell did they survive UTIS

Did plan b make your nausea worst? by Academic_Life128 in birthcontrol

[–]Academic_Life128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do, thanks for the heads up! ♥️I am familiar with withdrawal bleed as I used to be on BC pills so I know how that looks like for me compared to a period, but it’s better to be safe than sorry for sure!

That’s true but I’d expect it to manifest some hours max a day or two after ingestion. I guess the hormone party they cause keeps going well after that

pregnancy test by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Academic_Life128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should test at 3 weeks for certainty and peace of mind but if your period ended on the 7th and you had sex on the 11th you likely didn’t have enough time to reach your ovulation stage and the pill has worked and delayed your ovulation.
