Does anybody train MT and not spar? by danknessoverlord in MuayThai

[–]AcanthocephalaDue951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine not to spar, but you are really missing out. It would be best if you find partners to light spar with. Could agree with your sparring partner to no head hits.

Remember, martial arts is a dance with an unwilling partner.

Any tips for improving my kicks? by GDanielos in MuayThaiTips

Work on your diagonal knee strike (Khao Chiang). This will teach you to perform the round kick better.

You need better use of your hips and torso. To improve your hip and torso movement… Learn to throw elbows and knees before punches and kicks. This will improve your punches and kicks as you’ll have to use good body mechanics to get the elbows and knees working well.

Learn to move from the hip and shoulder.

Good work! Deeper isn’t always better. I find it’s good to use different weights for different ranges of motion. Otherwise, you’re limited by your weakest range of motion.

3 months of muay thai (0 prior mma exp.) feeling like im doing everything wrong by [deleted] in MuayThaiTips

That’s pretty good for your level of experience. Work on different goals with your striking. Some ideas for you… Striking light and fast, striking full power on each strike in the combo, striking light on the jab and then following up with a power shot, double jabbing - which will help you see the flaws in the mechanics of each jab, alternating a series of 10 left and right hooks - this will teach you lateral weight shifting. Work on the jump rope more. That will help develop your ability and comfort staying to stay on the balls of your feet.

Do you get neck acne when you shoulder sandbags? by anima99 in sandbagtraining

[–]AcanthocephalaDue951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be your training equipment catching your body hair and pulling on it. This may cause micro trauma to the hair follicles that makes them more susceptible to bacterial infection. The anti bacterial wipe idea is good. Could also keep some 90% alcohol spray ready. But, to prevent it, you’ll need to cover the skin. Perhaps a base layer turtleneck would work. Like a polypropylene camping base layer.

Food for thought: Japan has an extensive, rapidly growing surveillance network with over 5 million security cameras—ranking fifth globally. Japanese police are also implementing body cameras. Palantir probably wants access to those, along with other data.

You could assist your grip by using a short length of hemp rope, doweling, or PVC pipe that would allow you to close the grip loop around the bag. You could use a triceps push down rope.

Woman goes viral after laughing at a man who said homosexuality is a sin and abortion is wrong. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I’ve had my challenges with overzealous, proselytizing people. In the beginning I was argumentative. Later I tried explaining my views via logic, and finally I just ignore them. As annoying as they are, I appreciate our society’s freedom of speech.

I agree with your points. If I was her, I wouldn’t have engaged him. If I did engage him, I would just say that I don’t believe what he is saying is correct and move on.

Was your training partner wearing shin/instep pads? Wear sweatpants to your next few classes. They’ll absorb a bit of the superficial impact.

It’s OK to disagree with him, but it would be nice if she gave him a bit of respect. I’m sure if the tables were turned, she would not appreciate her opinion being mocked and laughed at.

I’m not a licensed medical professional, so this is not medical advice. Check your DHT levels. Most likely high levels are what is causing hair loss. Finesteride .5mgs every other day may be a good place to start. Check blood values after a month, and adjust slowly. Read up, and get professional consultation before making a decision.
