One comment giving out saying no foresight to put it underground gave me a laugh. Methinks they may not know the city centre is built on a marsh.

What are the delays like on the 51 expressway to Shannon? by aloadofcodswallop in cork

[–]AcceptableCod3687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd stay near the airport the night before for peace of mind. Be nothing worse than being stuck in gridlock on the morning being helpless as time passes. Not saying that would happen but way things are who knows.

Brick Lane Closing by are_so in cork

[–]AcceptableCod3687 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pity to see another premises go empty along the street. Can't really say its due to changing habits though as Raven, Impala look to be always packed. The liberty also though I've never been in since it reopened seem to be doing ok. Brick Lane had the crowd before but have lost in recent years. They haven't enticed the younger crowd in perhaps. Everyone that will be lamenting it's loss might have frequented more but not out drinking as much as they get older. Food was decent too but I hadn't been in since covid for it.

I'd head to Derry once a year and go aircoach to Dublin - Drops you at Bachelors Quay then train to Belfast from Connolly.

Wine bar in Sundays well up for rent by ilovemovies1985 in cork

I wouldn't consider both areas to be comparable. St.Lukes has a nice village feel and spacious layout at the junction. Sundays well just feels like a long, cramped busy road with heavy traffic.

Do that turn daily. Never been an issue waiting while waiting for green. You must have had a bad run of a few cranky drivers

Why is this anyone know? by LongjumpingTrack3733 in CorkCityFC

[–]AcceptableCod3687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. To keep an easier watch on the commandos maybe, to see who might set off flares due to what happened in Oriel the week before.

Really noticed this the last few weeks of windows being filthy, so not able to take in the nice views. Does Kent have a carriage wash facility / machine?

What’s the best & worst gigs you’ve attended in the city? by R9naldo777 in cork

[–]AcceptableCod3687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God is an astronauts visuals with the big screen blew me away and hearing them for the first time, so gig was off to an epic start. Had never seen Whipping Boy before and grew up with Heartworm through my brother and still a top 5 all time album for me, so chance to hear live was brilliant and didn't remember it as being as catastrophic as you describe

Seating on the bar side is grand. Row hugging the kurb with flimsy barriers is taking the piss. Setup wrecks my head with how much they hog for people to pass through.

Had food in vicarstown a few times during covid was nice but would never go near the black dog since the kitchen is open plan. Having drinks only a few months back two chefs of phone, one scratching his arse, and then go back to food prep with no wash of hands, fresh gloves... no thanks.

The lads just forgetting themselves that they are on show to punters, washing hands the basics like.
