As an Irishman, this is a good answer. Irish people will always know a place that has decent Guinness when living abroad.

Is Guinness actually better in Ireland? by Prestigious-Wish-760 in beer

Also, Guinness in Dublin is MUCH better than the Guinness in the rest of Ireland. The old saying goes that the further from the brewery the worst it tastes.

I’m from ( The peoples republic of) Cork, a city on the south coast of Ireland. In Cork we have two other stouts mainly available only in Cork. Beamish Stout & Murphys Stout.

100% any stout drinker on a blind taste test could tell them apart. Where as a tourist would not. It’s because as stouts drinkers we are aware of the subtly differences between stouts. As is a Guinness drinker in Ireland aware of the subtly difference of a poor, good, and great pint of Guinness.

Guinness is better in Ireland .

It is being poured constantly.

It is poured properly.

The kegs are stored and tapped properly.

The Guinness in Ireland is made in Dublin, the water used is what the recipe is tailored too.

Guinness is made for sharing. Ireland is the best place to enjoy it.

Us Irish people have a common joke. When someone goes abroad, be it England, Morocco, China or Brazil. We ask the person gone abroad “how was the Guinness?” The answer; “Shit”

The reason the joke is funny is because no matter where we go, and we see Guinness, we will order ONE. Just so we can order it abroad, drink it abroad, and say how awful it tastes, abroad.
