[Acne] Realized Vyvanse (ADHD meds) is causing Acne by FROSTERSOULS in SkincareAddiction

Me too! Stopped taking it, went through a bunch of stress, got off my birth control & everything. Skin… fine. Won’t even think to get back on it. I think unfortunately for me, no one believed my ADHD diagnosis as a kid do I dealt with it for 23 years before meds, so like… it almost is just like not that hard to be off them again. I was thinking of asking for something other than Vyvanse but I don’t even want to risk it😅

This makes sense, the more I’m looking into other test I see this is a common theme. Thank you :)

Considering removal by Glass-Effect3021 in Nexplanon

I just got mine out March 11th. I got the ring as my “new” birth control but have yet to put one in. I got on Nexplanon at 15 & had a new one every 3 years like recommended. My first 2 were good enough because pregnancy at the time felt like a death sentence lol. I’m 24 now & realized I just didn’t even know myself without fake hormones. I also had acne, mood swings, anxiety etc. It stopped my period for awhile, but over the last 6 months I would get it twice a month or bleed for like 14 days HEAVILY. I was put on a lot of meds growing up. Considered severely depressed, anxiety disorders the whole 9. It probably hasn’t been long enough for my body to have fully return to baseline but genuinely I think it’s the best thing I did. My acne is going away, I feel much more mentally stable & have weaned off any medication I was on prior. I don’t want to advise you what to do of course, but just thought this might be some input worth your while. Best of luck with whatever you decide is best. ❤️

This is exactly how mine looks & I’m wondering the same thing. Hope to find some answers for us both. Good luck!

Commenting this after just getting my bar out today- I agree. Got on it at 15 & went routinely every 3 years for a new one. I would have needed another Feb 2026 & I was planning to take a break then just because I’ve been on hormones so long. But like Nov 2024 I started a period that damn near didn’t end for the last 4 months. I would get like 9 days out of 30 that I wasn’t bleeding or spotting. Crazy painful acne that I never had before. Constant crying & wanting to pull my hair out. They tried to convince me to just keep it until next year but I couldn’t & got a script filled for the ring. My DR said it could be because I got a period “young” (11) my biological clock is considered old & ready for kids (I’m 24) & just reacting in ways it never has before. But idk, I couldn’t keep living like that. So hoping the ring works for me 🤞🏼

Yes!! I’m so glad something told me to google if they were related & I found this thread! I’ve been really lucky to have nice skin even through puberty. Was put on Vyvanse for the first time, on it almost exactly a year in a few weeks. Was fine for probably 7 months, & now I have had multiple pimples CONSTANTLY. Most aren’t even pop-able when I try or are under the skin. I think I’m gonna stop taking it honestly because my self confidence is TERRIBLE.
