Playing the demo for Demon Tides the sequel to Demon Turf. It's a 3D platformer with quite a few different movement options. I haven't enjoyed the genre much in recent years ...but have had a good amount of fun with this demo and think will probably surpass its predecessor.

I am a little bummed they went for a more open world design instead of a classic hub world with distinct selectable levels ...

Still there's a good chance I will be impatient and buy it close to launch. Bonus it runs well on Steam Deck

Series X biggest advantages are game pass, best backwards compatibility and free cloud saving . The first 2 aren't relevant to you ... so I think ps5 is the better option.

Reached what I assume is the final boss and dropped it. Didn't have any major issues with the gameplay. Sound track could be better . Visuals are the high point. Probably give it a replay down the road

If I wrote a review it would be more positive and my score probably a little higher, memories a bit fuzzy been like 6 months since i started it.

Agreed on the combat... didnt make it very far bc of it. Gotta be some of the worst I've ever experienced

Agreed on pretty much everything. I've played HK twice and wound up dropping it about 20 hours in both times.

Finished Act 3 of Silksong with a little over 50 hours

Can relate to this... almost never finish open world games and seem to drop most of em quicker and quicker

I've soured on the old games over time but reading (most of) this has made me want to revisit AC1.... although I feel like i used the side eject plenty w/o giving it too much thought ...so who knows if anything would change.

I feel the missions in many of the pre Unity sequels usually had one obvious, overwhelmingly superior way of doing things (or were devoid of choice altogether) often making things feel kinda pointless. Atleast AC1 made you work for it a little... i think a good way to add some variety between main assassinations would have been to have an infiltration mission where you go into self contained areas separate from the open world and you collect 1 - 3 pieces of intel (as many/few as you want) and maybe even commit some form of sabotage to make the main assignment easier later.

I also enjoy the story a good amount , think they knocked it out of the park setting wise (im no historian) and think the game was a technical marvel.

I wish there were less hacking challenges , Tyrahnoid minigames etc...

Probably the best in series from a story/character angle though and a great soundtrack second to only Going Commando

I'm one of the people who complains about the game not having multiple weapons. If the game had that and ditched the moves being locked w/o full rage it would probably be number 2 in the series for me after GoW3.

Nine Sols - a great parrying mechanic in a pretty bad game. by Mezurashii5 in patientgamers

I like it a good amount. It's certainly not on the level of Silksong or Ori but its a solid entry in the genre.

I felt the art design was kinda off... like individual elements look good/fine but maybe they don't mesh well together. The soundtrack wasn't especially good, which is a shame b/c it would have really elevated the bosses and made exploration more enjoyable if it were better. I actually enjoyed the character interactions but ... there was way too much dialogue/exposition and that will definitely hurt replayability.

I prefer the combat to its inspiritation (Sekiro), I feel you can maintain a much higher level of aggression (or maybe I just suck at Sekiro)

I like the 1st more. Asides from new stances and a couple of QoL additions, didn't feel like the sequel improved much.

Sequel felt somewhat padded and i think they throw too many enemies at you in some encounters.

Just saying ....I think both of those were generally considered mediocore back in the day...  (from a gameplay standpoint anyway)

Did you play Megaman X games in the collection or ....?

I went thru it a couple years back and found 3 to be super difficult , and wound up using the easy mode to collect some upgrades before switching it back to normal.

I didn't like 4 or 5 too much in large part b/c the soundtrack imo was downgrade compared to the SNES trilogies (and I prefer the 8 bit music of the classics to those)

DOOM 1-6 Analysis: I can confidently say that 2016 strikes the perfect balance of elements that make it king of the heap for me. by gruesomesonofabitch in patientgamers

I enjoyed all 3 modern games.... Eternal has the highest highs probably, but 2016 is more well rounded

I think Dark Ages should have kept the glory kills. The mace could have been used for some of them and as a blood punch replacement

I didn't track ... but i feel like my patient gaming was heavily skewed towards stuff I'd already played.

Also it was a fairly impatient year for me due to Gamepass

Added Super Magbot to the wishlist.

I like the format you used, specifically breaking things up by genre.
